5 Things You Didn''t Know About Witches'' Hat Filters
With the nights drawing in and Halloween just around the corner, we thought it was the perfect time to showcase our spookiest filter − the witches'' hat!
These popular filters are produced with a unique shape and design, which makes them perfect for your specialised filtration needs. So here are the five things you didn't know about witches' hat filters.
1. Witches' Hat Filters Have Several Names
These filters are also sometimes known as commissioning strainers or temporary filters. Commissioning filters are commonly used in the early stages of gas installation, whereas temporary filters are so-called as they can easily be removed, cleaned or replaced.
Witches hat filters are used in many ubiquitous industries, from oil and gas to the pharmaceutical industry.
2. Witches' Hats Can Become Top Hats
These conical strainers can be made pointed or truncated, the pointed versions are known as witches' hats, and the truncated versions are called top hats, as they resemble the iconic formal hat from days gone by.
Top hat filters are usually created when space is a concern, as the top hat filter is shorter in stature. Croft can produce these cone filters in sizes ranging from ½" to 24" long to accommodate a range of different filtration needs.
3. We Can Produce a Completely Bespoke Witches' Hat for Your Specific Needs
Our custom manufacturing service allows for a wide variety of design − we can act rapidly to all customer enquiries, from basic sketches to detailed parameters to quickly manufacture the exact witches' hat filter you need. They can also be created from a variety of materials, with the most popular being woven wire, mesh and coarse perforated steel.
We can produce these filters with a pore size as small as 1 micron, using a single mesh or several meshes to achieve your required micron rating.
4. We Can Repair Your Witches Hat Filter
If you have a witches' hat filter which has become damaged, we can repair it for you!
We offer a re-meshing service which means that depending on the condition of your filter, we can re-mesh and repair it, so you don't have to replace the whole part.
5. They're One of Our Most Popular Designs
Thanks to their versatility, the witches' hat filter is one of our most popular designs.
We've produced countless versions of the witches' hat filter for our customers over the years − you can take a look at some of the examples we have produced on our gallery, which you can find by clicking here.
