FileExpert launch their Publishing Portal

Document and content management is a mainstream technology with products that have become ever more sophisticated.

Not only has the breadth and depth of this software grown significantly so has the associated licence cost. We accept that this technology can bestow great benefits in driving productivity, compliance and eliminate duplication. We know this as we supply these systems to great effect. However, there are many who wish to simply share some documents or files with the customers, suppliers or other stakeholders. The documents may be originated from scratch or already be in a system where a subset needs to be shared more widely Importantly they do not need the full functionality for this cohort so full document management licences are unnecessary and probably expensive.

For this reason we developed a Publishing Portal that is lightweight, simple to use and cost effective. The design brief ensured that it can be used on any browser and on any device. It is simple and intuitive so there is no training overhead − you can browse or search, see a preview of the document and optionally download. It offers a superior, secure alternative to ad-hoc sharing of files using Dropbox, WhatsApp or email. You can publish content from document management systems or from scanning and capture software.

It does what it says on the tin.

• Publish your documents
• Set permissions to determine who is allowed access
• Watermark PDFs, or files that can be converted to PDF
• Disable downloads on all or selected accounts
• Brand the site with your colour palette and logos
• Audit trail of activity for the administrator

The Portal bridges the space between ad-hoc and uncontrolled file sharing that can have serious compliance issues and full fat document management systems. You can use the Portal from one of our Cloud servers or, if you prefer, from your own infrastructure
