Funding to provide air sterilising units for schools and colleges in Wales

The Welsh Government has announced a fund to provide ozone air sterilising units for schools and colleges in Wales.

Swansea University was asked by the Welsh Government to develop an Ozone Classroom Decontamination Project.

Scientists at the university have developed the machine which can quickly disinfect classrooms whenever clusters of COVID-10 have been identified.
The same technology can be used for other communicable diseases such as norovirus, flu and even the common cold.

The Minister for Education and Welsh Language, Jeremy Miles, said:

“These measures will complement, rather than replace our current advice − which includes ensuring hygiene is maintained, and washing hands thoroughly and more often than usual.”
