With the last of the summer months coming speedily to an end we’re looking forward to moving into autumn and winter here at LaneSystems. With another busy month tucked safely under our belts we’ve plenty to discuss!

IT Technician Vacancy

As the company continues to experience growth, we’re yet again recruiting. To be successful within the role of an IT Technician you’ll need strong technical knowledge and prove competent in communication with both colleagues and clients. Be Cyber Aware!

Unfortunately, as time progresses we’re seeing ever increasing cyber threats across the world. If you’ve never heard of the ‘Joker’ malware virus, that’s potentially a good thing (meaning you’ve not yet been affected). The bad news however is it’s back! Hiding in several subscription based apps on Google Play, the Belgian Police currently hold a warning on their website to be vigilant of the Joker.

We’ve discussed the rise of cyber crime in previous monthly roundups and as we’re all aware, COVID-19 has played a huge part in this. The first half of 2021 has experienced a triple-digit rise and whilst the USA was most affected at 36%, the UK wasn’t far behind at 24%. At LaneSystems we can’t comment enough on the importance of being cyber aware and ensuring you have the correct security in place. Teesside is Making a Comeback!

LaneSystems are based in Stockton on Teesside and are proud of the area we live and work in. It’s no secret how difficult the last 18 months have been for the UK (if not the world) and it’s been great to see progression in our local area.

In March of this year, Teesside was among the first in the UK to gain Freeport Status. Spanning 4,500 acres, we’re home to the largest Freeport in the UK and over the next five years it’s estimated more than 18,000 jobs will be created. This is an amazing boost for the region with a suggested economy cash injection of around £3.2billion!

If the Freeport isn’t news enough, we also learned about the hosting of Treasury North in Darlington. As part of its levelling up agenda, the government is set to move 22,000 civil servants out of London by the year 2030. To begin with, 750 civil servants will relocate to Darlington whilst senior officials and the chancellor will spend considerable time in the area. Hosting the Treasury North means well-paid jobs for locals and yet a further economical cash injection.

It’s fantastic to see that despite a worldwide pandemic, Teesside is managing to thrive and we’re proud to be a part of this.

Following on from the importance of Cyber Security, we’ve added Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus to our repertoire of services.
