London Ambulance Service

London Ambulance Service

Answering around two million 999 calls a year and attending more than 3000 emergencies a day, the London Ambulance Service is the busiest ambulance service in the UK.

It operates from a number of sites across the capital, covering an area of 620sq miles and providing the nine million people of London with emergency healthcare, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The service spends around £58 million a year on a wide range of goods and services to help with daily operations. It has a responsibility to ensure that all public money received is used as resourcefully as possible, and that it achieves the very best value for money. With a number of crimes targeting the ambulance service such as tyre slashing sadly on the increase, investments in security upgrades at the ambulance stations across the capital were necessary to protect essential vehicles and assets, and the staff working tirelessly around the clock to provide urgent care.

Jacksons manufactured and installed a number of gates and fencing for six of the London Ambulance Service stations, providing them with high quality products with a 25 year guarantee; representing great value and sustainability.

A range of products were installed to help with security and access control for different areas of the stations. Jacksons’ Barbican® fencing was installed at a number of sites. With its welded pale-through-rail construction, concealed panel-to-post connectors, and no visible bolts or rivets that could be removed, it offers a strong and secure fencing solution with a smart appearance. Matching gates feature the same benefits, with swing and bi-folding variations to suit different requirements for vehicular and pedestrian access. Jacksons’ bi-folding gates offer smooth and fast opening and closing times, which is essential for ambulance stations to enable quick access and increase efficiency while keeping the site secure. Available in both mesh and vertical bar styles, these were installed to match the fencing chosen at each site. Some of the swing gates were automated for ease of use, and controlled by keypads. All Jacksons’ automated gates are installed to current safety standards by trained engineers.

At one site, Securi-Mesh® fencing was installed to replace 11 metres of chain link fencing. Featuring clamp bars and tamper proof fixings, Securi-Mesh® fencing delivers a secure fencing solution which is difficult to vandalise. Featuring small apertures, it offers good protection against cutting and climbing while still providing good visibility. The wire used in all Jacksons’ mesh panels is measured before coating to provide an accurate representation of strength, and coated in Galfan® zinc alloy coating to provide superior protection against rust and corrosion.

Manufactured from premium quality materials and expert processes, Jacksons’ fencing and gates are built to last, preventing the need for costly and time-consuming repairs and replacements over time, and preventing disruption to our critical healthcare services.
