Natural and mechanical smoke extract systems for an impressive brand new hotel

Hotel Brooklyn is located beside the recently expanded Welford Road Stadium, home to Leicester Tigers rugby team.

The hotel has 191 bedrooms and offers corporate hospitality, dining and modern accommodation.

In accordance with the Fire Strategy report, Dyer installed mechanical and natural smoke control systems to assist with means of escape and firefighting operations in emergency fire conditions.

• A mechanical smoke extract system serves the common corridors due to extended travel distance to the stairwell. The extract/supply grilles are painted gloss black to compliment the hotel decor.

• Certified smoke vents provide natural smoke ventilation within the stairwell and lobby.

• 28 high level certified smoke vents form part of the atrium smoke clearance system. Inlet air provided via automatic openings at ground floor level.

• A motorised fire smoke damper system comprising 192 dampers serves rooms on all levels. The dampers automatically close in the event of a fire to prevent smoke/fire spreading between compartments.
