3D Scanning to create Vehicle replacement parts

3D scanning is useful in many industries.

One popular application is for capturing the component form for classic and vintage car and bike parts. Typically, this might be body panels or any number of mechanical parts. Having scanned the form, the data can be reverse engineered to give a digital copy of the original and supplied in a cad format that can be used to manufacture an exact copy of the part or perhaps just archived for future use. Any damaged areas can also be repaired on the digital model ready to re-create an accurate replacement.

The bell housing shown is a typical example showing the scanned data on the left and the finished Cad model on the right.
