High speed harness tester scores hat-trick with 3rd award

Modular high speed wire harness tester RTS has won its third prize of the year at the 2022 Elektra Awards.

RTS is designed and manufactured by MK Test Systems. The test system was awarded highly commended in the ‘Test Product of the Year’ category at the Elektra Awards ceremony. Hosted by industry magazine Electronics Weekly, the Elektra awards were held in London on 30th November 2022.

The Highly Commended prize was the third success for RTS in the awards calendar this year. The system also recently won the AeroTech award at the Tech South West Awards. On the same evening, MK were presented with the silver prize at the E&T Innovation Awards in the ‘Most Innovative Project for the Future of Manufacturing’ category.

Nick Baker, New Product Development Manager at MK Test Systems said of the latest Elektra Awards win “Myself and the team are so proud to get a recognition in this category, especially with the competition being such internationally recognised leaders in the test and measurement industry.”
He continued, “The fact that this is the third award that the RTS product has been commended for is such a great achievement for everyone at MK Test. Congratulations!”

RTS is a high speed, automatic wire harness test system. Unlike traditional rack-based systems, it uses modular components to take the test points directly to the aircraft or other vehicle. In July 2021, RTS was installed on the Airbus A320 final assembly line in Toulouse, reducing the number of interface cables by 90% and testing time by 30%. The name RTS stands for real time scanning, the technology behind the system, which was adapted from the automotive sector.
