Ashtead Technology strengthens rental fleet with investment in leading 3D measurement scanners

Responding to a growing demand for portable 3D measurement and analysis scanners, Ashtead Technology has invested in Creaform HandySCAN 700 Elite 3D scanners which will be available to rent.

This cutting-edge technology employs advanced 3D metrology technology to capture precise 3D measurements of an object - no matter the part size, complexity, material, or colour - enabling the generation of an accurate digital 3D model that can be analysed or reverse-engineered.

Compact and lightweight, HandySCAN 700 Elite systems can be brought anywhere and used in even the most demanding industrial environments without affecting performance. The user-friendly interface and ergonomic design make them easy to use and quick to learn regardless of the user’s experience or expertise level.

The versatility and ability to access hard-to-reach places make these 3D measurement systems suitable for a wide range of industries including oil and gas, automotive, aerospace, engineering, and design, for applications such as NDT asset inspection, quality assurance, product development and reverse engineering.

During surface inspections, for example, professionals can scan and assess pipeline and aircraft surface defects, such as corrosion, dents, and mechanical damage to ensure that they are back in service as quickly as possible.

These portable 3D scanners use blue laser triangulation technology to 3D scan a wide variety of mechanical parts, mockups, and prototypes. They cast 7 blue laser crosses in "Cross grid" mode, and a single blue laser beam in "Single beam" mode to capture deep, intricate details.

Alongside these innovative 3D scanners, clients will also be able to rent the VX Elements software bundle and a high-powered laptop to elevate their inspection. Working with the VX elements software platform is fast and easy for any NDT technicians for reliable, accurate and repeatable results, which are traceable and can be revised with new parameters without the need to scan again.

The cable management system, coloured LED distance indicators, and thumb-accessible buttons are innovations that are standard on Creaform products and imitated by many.
