PPMA Show Debut for KIM Cartoner

Bristol based Keymac Manufacturing will be exhibiting a KIM3 Intermittent Motion Fully Automatic End Load Cartoner for the first time on Stand B14 at PPMA Show at the NEC in Birmingham.

The machine is a 3 axis servo motor driven machine which is suitable for end loading difficult to load or multiple products into a carton.

After the product has been loaded the carton’s flaps may be sealed either with hot melt adhesive or tucked. The machine is equiped with a pre-break carton feeder which opens the carton before it is erected in the flight chain. This is especially beneficial for opening square cartons. The KIM3 machine is already being built at Keymac in the USA where it is packing a variety of products such as cans of beer, stacks of flow wrapped cookies and electric toothbrushes.

Alonsgside the KIM3 will be Keymac’s K101 Sleever which can insert trays or pots into a pre-glued sleeve at speeds up to 80 packs per minute. Developed for the ready meals market and in use around the world, the K101 has a small footprint and can be size changed, without the need for costly change parts, in 5 minutes.

An XL version is also available for larger pack sizes. In the drive to eliminate plastics from packaging, Keymac has modified this machine to run an environmentally friendly all cardboard pack for loose fresh produce, which is 100% recyclable.

The pack consists of a cardboard tray, into whch the loose produce is loaded in either 4, 6 or 8 count configurations and a cardboard sleeve with convenient carrying handle. Produce packing K101 machines are already installed in France, Italy, Belgium and The Netherlands.
