Wrought Iron Gate Overthrows

The Fine Iron team were pleased to be asked to repair and restore the Cyfarthfa Park railings following damage caused by a car.

It is always satisfying to work on more local historic ironwork and this would be the 2nd time we had worked on these railings having carried out repair works following a similar incident in 2011.

Damage and Repair

A site visit was carried out to properly assess the extent of the damage before the railings were delivered to our workshops. As always, great care was taken to salvage as much of the original ironwork as possible, however, some elements were damaged beyond repair and new castings were required.

Once the repairable orignial ironwork was cleaned and shotblasted and the replacement castings arrived work began on re assembling the railings and the four sided railing posts. The ironwork was then painted in a green colour which was matched to the original and the finials and decorative elements were painted in a gold paint.

We then delivered and re installed the railings.
