NEC announces end to on-site phone systems.

If your business currently uses a NEC phone system - this information is important for you.

NEC has given notice that they will phase out on-premises business phone systems and will gradually withdraw from the on-premises UC business over the next few years, leading to a full exit.
With a 16% market share, this is a shock decision and will worry thousands of UK businesses that are currently using an NEC phone system.

Here are the key points:

The notice affects these 3 models of the NEC on premise phone systems:

NEC SL2100
NEC SV9100
NEC 3C

Some NEC phone systems like the NEC Aspire, XN120, SV8100 and SL1100 have been end of life for many years.

If your business uses any of the above phone systems, you need to consider your options, especially with the 2025 PSTN Switch Off looming large. Should you not want to run an end-of-life phone system for your business, there are alternative options available such as migrating to a Cloud Based VoIP Phone System.

The key dates:

EON − End of New Deliveries − 31-Dec-2024 − This will be the last date that you can order new products for system sales.

End of Shipment − 31-March-2025 - This is the last date that NEC will ship any new hardware that was ordered pre the EON date.

EOS − End of Service − 31-March-2026 − End of Support for technical assistance from NEC for the phone system.

EoSWA − End of Support for SWA (Software Assurance) − End of technical support NEC software related faults.

If you would like to find out more about the above notice and how it affects your business, you need to discuss what your options are with an NEC phone system specialist.

Many businesses should take this opportunity to upgrade and explore converting legacy ISDN or Analogue Lines to a modern VoIP system. In addition to the many benefits gained from using the newer VoIP technology you could also receive the extra advantages of cost savings through lower monthly bills. In some cases the upgrade to VoIP even pays for itself through the savings of converting your old phone lines.
