NFU Energy Partners with Thanet Earth Lettuce for Comprehensive Energy Management Services

NFU Energy is pleased to announce a new partnership with Thanet Earth Lettuce, a recent venture of the UK’s largest glasshouse complex, Thanet Earth, to provide comprehensive energy management services through its acclaimed Energy Account Management service.

Thanet Earth, renowned for sustainable horticulture and innovative growing practices, has recently acquired Leythorne Nursery, recently owned and operated by Madestein UK. This acquisition expands Thanet Earth's specialty from tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers to include leafy salads.

The new venture, trading as Thanet Earth Lettuce and based in Chichester, will produce lettuce year-round under 2.6 hectares of glass using a deep flow hydroponic system. To manage its complex energy needs, Thanet Earth Lettuce has partnered with NFU Energy. This collaboration underscores the growing need for efficient energy management in the horticultural sector, aiming to enhance productivity while reducing environmental impact.

NFU Energy's Energy Account Management service offers a bespoke approach to energy management, combining a deep understanding of compliance schemes and regulation with expert oversight to deliver cost savings via contract negotiations, efficiency improvements, and sustainability enhancements. The service includes energy procurement, monitoring, and reporting, tailored specifically to meet the unique needs of agricultural and horticultural businesses.
