Newbury Football Club Security Fencing and Access Control
In 2018, Newbury Football Club, a longstanding community hub in Berkshire, was evicted from its ground, which was earmarked for industrial redevelopment.
In August 2021, the clubhouse on the site was destroyed in a suspected arson attack, leaving the area in disrepair and deepening the community's despair.Despite this, Newbury's residents campaigned tirelessly. Following a high court hearing and a change in local government, the club was approved to return to its original Faraday Road ground in 2023.
The club faced challenges upon its return, needing enhanced security due to past vandalism. Jacksons Fencing helped secure the site swiftly, allowing it to reopen within months. A comprehensive security plan was implemented, blending protection with the area's natural surroundings.
Barbican® fencing and gates were installed around a portable cabin used for equipment storage and changing rooms, offering robust protection against vandalism and unauthorised access. The fencing incorporated anti-vandal features and was designed for durability.
EuroGuard® Flatform mesh fencing was used to demarcate the grounds and prevent stray footballs from leaving the area. Constructed with twin wires and unique security clips, the fencing was durable and aesthetically pleasing, with a green polyester powder coating. The fence line, backing onto the main entrance, protected neighbouring properties and ensured good relations.
A heavy-duty warden barrier at the entrance controlled access, preventing unauthorised vehicular entry. Designated parking near the double-leaf gates and cycle hoops provided organised and secure transportation options.
These security measures allowed Newbury Football Club to reopen its grounds in 2023 with renewed confidence. The club's return revitalised community spirit, offering a safe environment for players and fans. The integration of security solutions with the natural landscape ensured the football grounds remain a cherished part of the area.
