Business Needs

This stunning superyacht is German-built and designed by Jon Bannenberg. It is the 10th largest in the world and cruises effortlessly at 28 knots.

The yacht required a two way radio communication system that would allow the
crew to talk to each other from any part of the vessel in all conditions. Guaranteed radio coverage meant they could carry out their on-board duties efficiently and safely.

Our aim was to achieve 100 percent radio coverage throughout its complex 5-storey structure. Whatever the conditions, the radio equipment would have to provide crystal clear reception from any deck. For instance, if a fire broke out at sea, it would be vital the deck crew could communicate and collaborate fast
without any hindrance.

Solution
Following the full survey on the motor yacht, Brentwood’s topnotch engineers picked ICOM F61 handheld radios as the superior option. Apart from providing full coverage across the entire vessel, the two-way radio was rugged and waterproof.

The ICOM F61 has a compact body with durable, dependable construction. Suitable for use in harsh marine environments, this reliable radio will give the deck crew absolute confidence whilst at sea, or in harbour. The large capacity Lithium-Ion battery provides a secure 10 hours of operating time.

For emergencies (such as a fire), the deckhands can wear a throat microphone with an attached acoustic tube, which fits into their ear. An enlarged PTT button, located around the pocket area, is attached to the microphone.

The installed radio system made everyone onboard feel more secure, and increased their productivity. The officers, crew (and others) found their compact radios robust, reliable and easy-to-use.

The system delivered optimum coverage, faultless reception, and audio clarity.

Brentwood will always be available to help the superyacht with any further problems with its two-way radio equipment.
