Bio-Bubble WwTP - Phosphate Reduction without Dosing
Here at Advanced Aeration Bio-Bubble, we have real world evidence to indicate what the average reductions of total Phosphate can be without Ferric dosing.
The sample plant that the data has be collected from is domestic waste from a hotel with restaurants and spa pool and gym facilities. The Environmental Permit for this treatment works had a numerical value for total phosphate based on achieving an annual average of < 3 mg/l when first commissioned, we were obliged to take monthly analysis and report to the Environment Agency.
Whilst one will always have occasional spike results, the reductions experienced from the data over 3 years or more was circa 60% reduction biologically alone with an Advanced Aeration Bio-Bubble process based on a sequenced Batch reactor basis with activated sludge.
In 2021 we were obliged to apply to vary the Environmental Permit due to expansion with a 3-fold increase in daily volume discharged, the consequence was a tightening of the Total Phosphate standard so the net output remained similar. So, we now operate the works down to < 1 mg/l Tp but are now reliant on Ferric Chloride to maintain reductions over 95%.
Remember that effective phosphorus management involves a combination of technological advancements, regulatory compliance, and responsible biosolids utilisation. By implementing these practices, Advanced Aerations Bio-Bubble wastewater treatment plants contribute to safeguarding our watersheds.
