Out With The Old, In With The Old
At a time when CopriSystems, along with most businesses, are continuously reviewing all their eco-credentials and putting new measures in place to be more sustainable, they are eager to promote the long-term values of the materials they use.
There is a misconception that CopriSystems’ structures are short-term solutions but the message is clear…if you need them to last decades, and you look after them, then they will last decadesIt is well known that conventional building materials come with a hefty environmental footprint so, wherever possible, CopriSystems are proactive in re-using buildings and employing more recycled material. Steel has an indefinite lifespan and can be recycled or reused infinitely without downgrading in quality. PVC fabric covers are heavily resistant to weathering, chemical degradation, corrosion, shock and abrasion. They are durable, long lasting and recyclable but they also provide good insulation, which reduces the need for energy consumption through heating and air conditioning.
Many of CopriSystems’ old covers, that are no longer used, have been donated to local farmers and reclamation yards. In farming, they are employed to cover slurry pits or fields to supress the growth of weeds and regulate temperature, which helps increase the crop yield. On the yards, they are used to cover materials such as bricks, tiles and concrete slabs during the winter so they don’t get damaged by the frost.
Recently, CopriSystems have been working with Ward, a specialist in metal recycling and waste management. They are taking huge steps to achieve zero landfill and reverse the damaging effects of climate change so CopriSystems were thrilled to hear that they had recently managed to salvage one of their canopies from a factory site demolition.
Dan Egner, Site Manager for Ward in Chesterfield explains, “When WARD initially visited the site, as part of a demolition contract, we noticed the structure looked sturdy and well kept. At the time we had no idea the building was almost 30 years old as the structure showed no signs of wear or damage and the canvas was intact and securely fixed.”
A recycling business recycling one of their old structures, CopriSystems couldn’t be happier!
They are currently working with USystems, another business focused on minimising their impact on the environment. This time, they are re-purposing an old industrial building that has come to the end of its life-span at Wickes but still has plenty of life left in it. The steel frame is being modified and re-painted so it will soon be ready to move on from being a loading bay and take on the role of internal storage facility.
There is nothing short-term about CopriSystems’ industrial warehousing solutions!
