Meet the Wearable Task Assistant: A New Solution for Efficient, Accurate, and Ergonomic Picking from Kardex

Introducing our newest innovation, the Wearable Task Assistant – a portable device that takes picking efficiency and ergonomics to the next level. Equipped with a hands-free scanner, pick and place support, and a colour-coded wrist display, the Wearable Task Assistant minimises errors and improves the overall quality of the picking process.

Kardex's latest innovation, the Wearable Task Assistant, is a wearable device designed to support the picking process with advanced features that improve both efficiency and accuracy. The WTA provides step-by-step guidance throughout the picking process with an E-Ink display that fits comfortably on the operator's wrist. It displays essential information, such as pick cart details, quantities, and put locations, while validating each step with a built-in scanner.

The device provides immediate feedback to ensure accurate order fulfilment while reducing cognitive load on operators. Its intuitive design simplifies onboarding, allowing new or temporary employees to quickly adapt and contribute to operations, ultimately reducing training time while improving overall productivity.

When used in conjunction with the Kardex Colour Pick System, the Wearable Task Assistant enables multi-order picking, allowing the operator to pick larger quantities of a single item for multiple orders at once. This further accelerates up order fulfilment, reduces walking distances, and optimises operational efficiency.

Product Features include higher pick and put accuracy, reduced operator mental load and faster onboarding.

•High Accuracy: The WTA ensures precise execution through its built-in scanner and real-time validation process. Operators scan at each step, and if a mistake is made, the WTA vibrates and immediately displays an error message, guiding the operator to the correct put location. This hands-free double-confirmation system reduces mistakes and improves order accuracy, making it particularly effective in high-volume operations.

•Reduced Mental Load: With continuous guidance displayed directly on the operator’s wrist, the WTA minimises cognitive strain. It provides clear, step-by-step instructions for both picking and putting tasks, significantly easing the mental workload. Operators simply follow the WTA’s prompts, from scanning items to placing them in the correct locations. This real-time feedback reduces the need for memorisation, allowing workers to focus on task completion rather than process details.

•Faster Onboarding: Available in a variety of cuff sizes, the WTA speeds up the training process for new employees. Its clear, simple guidance makes it easy to understand and operate, allowing for quicker onboarding of new staff, including temporary labour. This streamlined training process enables businesses to efficiently manage peak periods with minimal disruption and increased flexibility in labour usage.
