Kardex Introduces the Upgraded Vertical Lift Module with an Intuitive User Interface

Kardex, a global leader in automated storage and retrieval solutions, is pleased to announce the international launch of its upgraded Vertical Lift Module (VLM) Kardex Shuttle with the new Total Intelligence Concept (TIC) control system. This new operating concept with advanced options is available worldwide, with the exception of North America, where it is scheduled for release in the Spring of 2025.

The introduction of the TIC control system represents a significant update to Kardex’s previous Logicontrol platform and marks a major evolution in intralogistics technology. This new generation of controls introduces significant improvements by combining modern software architecture with a user-friendly design. By addressing key challenges such as adaptability, operational efficiency, and ease of use, the TIC-controlled VLM helps companies streamline operations, reduce costs and prepare for future demands.

Key Features and Benefits

•User-friendly interface: With an intuitive, multilingual 12.1-inch capacitive touch panel, operators enjoy a streamlined and ergonomic interface. Designed for quick user training and minimal picking errors, the system provides comprehensive and context-sensitive picking assistance in over 20 languages, simplifying even complex workflows.

•Scalable and future-proof design: Modular software and hardware architecture allows seamless integration of new features and easy adaptation to changing requirements.

•Optimised order fulfilment: Intelligent features such as faster shutter door operation, various commissioning strategies and dynamic tray zoning significantly accelerate processes. Storing high frequency trays close to the access opening ensures fast storage and retrieval. Remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance tools further minimise downtime and improve overall efficiency.

•Improved ergonomics: Thoughtful design ensures operator comfort, reducing fatigue and increasing efficiency at every workstation.

•Greater connectivity: The TIC platform introduces the Intralogistics Application Programming Interface (ILA), enabling seamless integration into customer ecosystems and providing a robust foundation for automation and process optimisation for the future.

Shaping the Future of Intralogistics

“The TIC-controlled VLM reflects Kardex’s commitment to delivering solutions that not only meet today’s needs but also prepare for tomorrow’s challenges,” said Christian Rau, Product Manager for the VLM. “With its advanced features and focus on the user experience, the TIC-controlled VLM is designed to help our customers achieve greater efficiency and flexibility."

The product is now available in most regions. North American availability will follow in the Spring of 2025, while additional features and options will be introduced throughout the year, ensuring a complete transition to the TIC platform by mid-2025.

Kardex will also be showcasing the TIC-controlled VLM at leading industry events, including LogiMAT in Stuttgart and ProMAT in Chicago in March 2025. These events provide an excellent opportunity for attendees to experience the capabilities of the solution first-hand.
