Future Energy Partners announces leadership changes

Future Energy Partners is pleased to announce key leadership changes within the company.

After years of dedicated service, David Bamford has retired as a Director. We extend our sincere gratitude to David for his invaluable contributions, strategic insights and commitment to the growth and success of Future Energy Partners. His expertise and leadership have played a vital role in shaping our organisation, and we wish him all the best in his retirement.

As we bid farewell to David, we are delighted to welcome two esteemed professionals, Martin Cox and Owain Franks, who have been appointed as Directors. Their wealth of experience and industry knowledge will be instrumental in driving Future Energy Partners forward.

Introducing our new directors

Owain Franks

Mr Franks has an LLB(Hons) from the University of Southampton, a Post Graduate Diploma in Corporate Strategy from Harvard Business School and read for the Bar with the Inns of Court School of Law.

For a large part of his career (from 1984 to 2010) Mr Franks was a partner in PwC LLP in the UK, being a member of its UK Management Board for eight years from 1998 to 2008 as managing partner of one of its six lines of service and then as Head of Strategy for the firm.

In his professional practice, Mr Franks specialised in the oil & gas industry and was lead relationship and engagement partner for one of the world’s largest international oil companies and worked on other large, midcap and start-up exploration and production companies. Initially a tax specialist, he became one of the leaders of the firm’s tax practice. Over time he e moved into more general performance improvement consultancy and M&A work, evolving methodologies and frameworks for large scale due diligence exercises and post acquisition implementation.

Until 2023  he was an executive director of Warrego Energy Limited an  ASX listed oil and gas company. Mr Franks became a director of Warrego in 2011 and engineered the company’s ASX listing via an RTO in 2019 working closely with Dennis Donald the MD/CEO. Post the listing he was an Executive Director of the Company and for a period, its CFO. Warrego was sold to Hancock Energy in 2023 in a closely contested complex takeover transaction. Warrego set many milestones including deepest onshore well yet drilled in Australia, largest percentage increase in value on takeover (takeover premium % uplift) achieved on the ASX for over 20 years, and the most convoluted takeover battle in 2023.

Mr Franks also worked for the following companies, inter alia, following his retirement from PwC in 2010.

Commercial Director, Independent Resources plc
Chairman and Senior Partner, Mars Omega LLP, Chairman, Mars Omega Partnership Ltd (MOP was a niche consultancy working in the arena of helping clients to understand the issues arising from intelligence and information, both open sourced and specialised).
Chairman, International Advisory Board, Dana Petroleum plc

Martin Cox

Mr Cox is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years of expertise in the energy sector, particularly in well engineering. He holds a Degree in Mining Engineering and a Postgraduate Diploma in Offshore Engineering. His career spans senior technical and leadership roles at Aberdeen Drilling Management Ltd., Expro, and Reeves Wireline Services, where he has driven technological advancements, strategic partnerships, and revenue growth.

Mr Cox has also served as President of the Mining Institute of Scotland and President of IOM3, later chairing the Executive Board for the Institute of Materials, Metallurgy & Mining. As a Fellow of both IOM3 and the Energy Institute, his contributions to the industry are widely recognised.
