Conveyors for Handling Drums of Nuclear Waste.

Nicholson Group have recently completed a contract to design and manufacture a powered roller conveyor system with lift units, transfers and rotation units for handling drums of low grade nuclear waste.

The Accumulation System comprises both Mild Steel and Stainless Steel rollers, with drums weighing up to 2.5 tonnes. Polyethylene side guides are incorporated for safety.

The system accumulates drums in individual zones, preventing any contamination from drum to drum.
This is the 3rd system supplied by Nicholson for the Nuclear Industry, both in cell and out cell.

The specialist design incorporates heavy duty stop units for drum positioning and heavy duty conveyor rollers and supports at the load points.

Transfers are normally chain operated for set aside or the conveyor section is mounted on a transfer car for long distance positioning.
Already possessing ISO 9001:2008 Quality  Assurance,  Nicholson supply all necessary documentation including full maintenance schedules, lifetime quality records and  traceability of materials for the Nuclear Industry.

Nicholson manufacture all their conveyors and special equipment to the same high standard, with  quality inspections of contracts from order to delivery.
