Waterlogic goes green with new handheld terminals
Drinking water expert, PHS Waterlogic, has equipped its team of UK service engineers with hand held terminals to streamline business process, improve customer service and reduce reliance on paper. Greener mobile working will be enhanced by deployment of the Motorola MC55 Enterprise Digital Assistant (EDA), says PHS Waterlogic and over 70 of the compact terminals have been deployed nationwide.
According to PHS Waterlogic, engineers in the field can now swiftly identify which of its drinking water dispensers are on a customer’s site and map their exact locations. This may include water coolers, boiling water products, high volume dispensers, water fountains or a mix of the range. Supporting the process for servicing, says the drinking water supplier, the hand held terminals will make it quicker to update or order. On completion of the visit the customer’s signature can be captured via the terminal and this removes the need for paper forms to validate orders or confirm servicing.Over 100,000 pieces of paper will be saved each year thanks to the new hand held, says PHS Waterlogic. With the wireless transmission of data, the systems operated by the company will be dynamically updated; improving efficiency and avoiding previous paper processing time scales, it claims.
“We are delighted with the advantages afforded by the new EDA terminals,” said managing director of PHS Waterlogic, David Matthews. “There are many powerful functions that have allowed us to improve our service; making proactive enhancements, plus being responsive to the dynamic needs of our customers. Our slogan is ‘the intelligent choice’ and we’ve believe we’ve made a very smart choice in deploying these mobile terminals to our engineers.”
Photography is another facility offered by the new terminal and PHS Waterlogic plans to use this to capture pictures on site, for instance to aid identification of replacement parts required during service. This, the company says, will improve replacement speed and accuracy of part order. Stocking will also be managed via the new terminals so that each engineer’s van can be kept stocked to an optimum level.
According to Motorola, the MC55 EDA is business class device, designed to meet the needs of the mobile worker, the business application and the organisation’s IT requirements. It is described as an easy-to-use and easy-to-carry device, offering ‘enterprise manageability, security and scalability’.
Summarising the application of the new hand held terminals, David Matthews concluded, “Whether we are scoping the changing drinking water requirements at a site, or servicing existing dispensers for hygiene and performance, every bit of information needed can be transmitted wirelessly and instantly. This is a great new facility to underpin our Totalcare™ service.”
