What to Look for in a Reconditioned Photocopier

Reconditioned office photocopiers and multifunctional devices (print, scan and fax all in one) are a great alternative to the highly expensive new copiers currently on the market.

You can buy a reconditioned copier for a fraction of the price of a new one, but in order to get a decent copier you need to make sure it satisfies the following criteria at the very least.

Known History

Try to buy your reconditioned copier from a company that knows its exact history. If you can, find a company that takes colour copiers and mono copiers in part exchange for new models so you can check exactly where it has come from and what kind of use it had in its past life. This way you can check its age and its photocopier maintenance log if it has one to see how well it has been serviced during its working life.

A Full Service

Reconditioned copiers should always undergo a full service before being delivered. If the company you intend to buy your copier off doesn’t offer mono or colour copier servicing, or they fail to completely service the copier before delivering it then they may not offer the on-going customer service and support you may need in the future.

A Guarantee

All new photocopiers come with some form of guarantee and likewise all reconditioned copiers should come with a guarantee as well. The terms and conditions of the guarantee will of course differ from one supplier to another but there should be a guarantee in place from the day the copier is delivered.

A Good Price

Taking Konica copiers as an example, you should look to save around (%) on the price of a new model by buying a reconditioned model. Check to see if any consumable items are included in the price as well, and if not ask if a few toner and ink cartridges can be thrown in for good measure (it never hurts to ask).

Optional Service Agreement

Your reconditioned copier should come with an optional service agreement. These agreements guarantee a full service and support package, a replacement copier if yours requires off-site photocopier maintenance, unlimited call outs, faster response times and numerous other handy benefits. Being optional you don’t have to take the service but this type of agreement can save you hundreds of pounds in servicing costs alone.
