From our Engineering Design Centre in Cambridgeshire, we provide product and industrial design services, including prototype development and build.

We cover many industries and market sectors such as; food, water, gas, security, pharmaceutical, mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or agricultural engineering to name but a few.

Using state of the art 3D modelling software our Engineering Design Team will assist you at any stage, or all stages, of the design and development process.

We’ll give you conceptual ideas, prepare detailed 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) models and digitally prototype the design.

We have over 35 years experience in the design and testing of new products and we work in partnership with many different companies and provide a range of support.

How you work with us is entirely up to you. It can be anything from the initial idea stage through to building and testing a prototype. The preliminary technical designs are created in our design studio. From the outset we understand your requirements and use the latest CAD software to visualise the product. At this stage it’s possible to rotate and explore every aspect of the design, you just can’t physically touch anything. At the point where we're all comfortable that the design meets the requirements specified, a prototype is built. This will be used for testing the functional aspects of the product. The results will enable the designs to be refined before entering the manufacturing process.

Detailing - We take an approved design and ‘detail’ all the parts for manufacture and assembly build. The manufacturing drawing pack is quality checked prior to issue thereby reducing, if not eliminating, queries and problems during production. Our prototyping and manufacturing service uses the drawing pack to produce a prototype, turning your idea into a real product or part.

Draughting - Our draughting team is well versed in quickly and efficiently updating drawings from mark-ups or converting those hand-sketches and scribbles into professional CAD drawings so that parts can be made.

We’ll look after revision control and issuing of drawings – a helpful extension to your own team or becoming the drawing office you don’t have and need.

If you have a part or product that you need to re-manufacture, but don’t have the manufacturing drawings or documentation, then our reverse engineering service can help.

At A4Plus we scan your parts to produce 3D CAD models and the manufacturing drawings derived from them. This is ideal for complex, smaller parts where accuracy is vital.

For larger parts we use hand-measuring techniques to generate 3D models and 2D assembly drawings.
