Design

At Alker, we have been designing and manufacturing fibre optic solutions for over 35 years. Our fibre experience and agility mean we can design world-class fibre optic solutions quicker. Armoured Assemblies

Alker is pioneer in the field of innovation, design and manufacture of fibre optic assemblies for harsh environments. There are many applications requiring fibre optics to work in extreme temperatures, wet or dry environments, or enduring excessive vibration. We are continually expanding the array of connectors we can successfully armour to withstand the demands expected in extreme conditions.

Bifurcated / Trifurcated Assemblies

Custom Micro Armoured Multimode Fibre Optic Bundles tailored to meet almost any fibre or requirement, from as small as 1.5mm outer diameter. Ideal for multiple applications such as; splitting light from a source to several outputs; or merging light from various sources into a single output.

With a never-ending array of specialist fibres and options available Bifurcated/Trifurcated armoured assemblies can be tailored to almost any design, and specification, with variations on input and output legs: 2×1, 3×2, etc. Fibres used in each leg can be the same or different, based on the optimisation of fibre core or wavelength range or both.

Polarisation Maintaining

Polarisation Maintaining is most commonly used for special applications, such as in fibre optic sensing, interferometry & quantum key distribution, however, uses continue to evolve and expand into new markets. As custom manufacturers of fibre optic solutions, all products are made to order allowing us to provide fast turnaround bespoke solutions to customer specifications.

Fibre Optic Arrays

We offer 16, 32 & 64-way arrays as standard & we can tailor-make an array to suit almost any fibre/requirement up to 128-way.

Deployable Cable Reels

UK Manufactured deployable cable reels provided to almost any specifications from 200M to 1000M. Marine and MIL spec connectors and cable specifications available.

Expanded Beam Assemblies

Expanded Beam Connectors are one of the most reliable solutions suited for rugged and demanding harsh environments. Available in Singlemode and Multimode with multi-channel variations. The intermateable hermaphroditic interface simplifies connectivity with reliable performance.

Fibre Optic Repair Services

Responding to growing customer demand we are now available to support all your Fibre Optic needs, with our comprehensive emergency fault finding and repair service for damaged and faulty fibre optic connections. Our skilled team can assess faults onsite or at our UK Manufacturing Facility to quickly determine the root cause of any issue, carry out repair efficiently and get you back up and running whilst minimising any downtime or disruption.

Low Volume Prototypes

High costs and lengthy lead times can be frustrating when developing new products. Alker can offer low volume prototypes and rapid prototyping capabilities to accelerate your R&D and new product development to bring your concept to life.

Feedthroughs

We can now offer a custom range of feedthroughs which can withstand a much higher maximum pressure than before, and this is due to a unique sealing process which has been developed for the Nuclear Industry and is incredibly effective and reliable.

These connectors are manufactured in high strength stainless steels and are able to withstand the stresses imposed by high pressure.
These feedthroughs can be designed to fit almost any requirement, with custom bulkhead fittings available to suit new or retro-fit applications.

Inspection & Cleaning Kits

Alker has developed a range of inspection & cleaning kits to suit a wide variety of adaptors and connectors. All single and multimode standards, including large core fibres, multi-pin, male and female connectors can be inspected and cleaned.
Alker is also able to provide bespoke inspection and cleaning tips for your equipment and your assets.
The cleaning kit enables the inspection of termini end faces for debris or damage stopping the spread of contamination to other connectors.

Fibre Optic Repolishing Tool

Introducing alkerme™ the first fibre optic ferrule, pin & socket end face re-polishing tool for damaged military specification multi pin connectors.
There are vast amounts of fibre optic connectors in service around the world within high-value assemblies that have a long delivery time. In addition, these assemblies are attached to critical and valuable equipment: test equipment, in a fighter jet or submarine, or within another critical application.
