Wide Aisle Pallet Racking

Wide Aisle Pallet Racking is the most commonly used form of pallet racking in the UK providing unrestricted access to every pallet stored. Access is by standard fork lift truck.

Narrow Aisle Pallet Racket

Narrow Aisle Racking consists of the same basic components as wide aisle racking but with the runs of racking placed closer together eliminating the wasted space of a wide aisle. The pallets can be stored to a greater height to maximise all available space. The pallets are accessed via specialist trucks which are guided in the aisles by either wire in the floor or floor mounted guide rail.

Very Narrow Aisle Pallet Racking

Narrow Aisle Pallet Racking increases the storage capacity of Wide Aisle Pallet Racking by up to 40%. Special Narrow Aisle Trucks / Cranes are required to operate in the narrow aisles. Narrow Aisle Racking is normally much higher than conventional wide aisle racking making better use of the available headroom.

Drive In Pallet Racking

Drive In Pallet Racking is used when there are large quantities of the same product type providing up to 90% space utilization. The system is usually operated using the FILO (first in last out) system. Drive Through Pallet Racking is very similar except the system is operated using the FIFI (first in first out) system.

· Product segregation − each product stored in on or more lanes
· No special equipment required − product can be accessed by Reach or Counterbalance trucks

Push Back Pallet Racking

Push Back Pallet Racking provides high-density storage where quick and easy access is required. Pallets are loaded in to the system on to either trolleys or rollers. Pallets are pushed back by the next incoming pallet. Push back provides greater flexibility than Drive In Racking, in terms of access to individual products.

Pallets can be stored two, three, four or five pallets deep. The pallets are loaded and unloaded from the same aisle reducing truck travel distances and improving efficiency. Each pallet returns to the off load face when the previous pallet is removed.

Mobile Pallet Racking

Mobile racking is easily configured to utilise the most space available for the storage of pallets. The racking is mounted on a mobile chassis which move along guided rails installed within the floor. This design is often used for cold stores, where the maximum amount of space can be used for storage.

Apex Splices are used to join upright sections together usually lighter duty sections are pliced on top of heavier duty section. There are strict rules for splicing uprights together which must be adhered to in accordance with the manufacturers guidlines. If in doubt ask.

Rack Defender 300mm for 70-90mm rack face

The RackDefender racking upright protector is an innovative flexible protector that fits around the upright. It is manufactured from a rubber compound EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) and is specifically designed to ensure that it has excellent impact dispersal and absorption qualities. Additionally, the material gives the RackDefender the ability to grip on to the racking at any level without any fixings.
