Fire Response

Fire Response

Fire Alarm Systems can be connected to an alarm receiving centre (ARC) to provide keyholder and on some systems obtain Fire Brigade Response. Argus Fire and Security currently install and maintain many of these systems across the UK, all our work is carried out in conjunction with the Fire Reform Order 2005 and the new British Standard BS5839:2017. Older systems would conform to the previous standards BS5839:2013/2002, and in some cases BS5839:1998. Argus expect in the future all companies working on fire alarms will need to be approved by an accredited organisation such as the NSI. Argus successfully achieved BAFE approval via the NSI in 2015.
Not all Fire Authorities will provide immediate brigade response, many brigades across the UK (including Merseyside) will only guarantee to respond to a confirmed Fire Alarm Activation. A confirmed fire activation is currently only achieved by two separate forms of notification.

Fire Alarm Systems Wigan

Fire Alarm Systems Wigan

Argus work strictly in accordance to the British standards. The current standard for Fire Alarm Systems in the UK is BS5839:2017, which has recently replaced BS5839:2013. There are two main reasons for having a Fire Alarm installed, Life protection and Property protection.
Life systems are categorised as (L) type systems with the exception of manual systems which are (M) type.
Property systems are categorised as (P) type systems, these are designed to protect buildings and stock.
Life systems can be designed for both commercial and residential use, the British Standard has different requirements for each of these. Commercial systems must comply to BS5839:2017 Part 1, and Residential to Part 6 of the standard, the biggest difference between these standards are the sound level requirements, although this is not the only difference.
There are different types of certification for Fire Alarm companies to achieve. In January 2015 Argus achieved BAFE Approval for the maintenance of fire detection systems. In September 2015 Argus completed the process and achieved full BAFE approval for system design, and installation to Part 1 of the standards. Argus are not as of yet approved to Part 6, however this is something we will be looking in to further, in 2018.

Fire Alarm Systems can be connected to an alarm receiving centre (ARC), to provide commercial and domestic customers with keyholder, and on certain systems Fire Brigade response. Here at Argus Fire and Security Ltd we currently install and maintain many of these systems across the UK. All work on our customers premises is carried out in line with both the Fire Reform Order 2005 and the current British Standard BS5839:2017. Older systems were required to conform to the previous standards BS5838:2013/2002, and in some cases BS5839:1998.

We successfully achieved BAFE approval via the NSI in 2015, ensuring that all the work we carry out on our customers premises complies fully with current regulations.

At the present time not all Fire Authorities provide immediate brigade response. Many brigades (including Merseyside), only guarantee to respond to a confirmed Fire Alarm activation. A fire activation is only currently classed as confirmed on receipt of two separate forms of notification.

Remote Monitoring

Remote Monitoring

Argus Fire and Security can provide off-site monitoring for most types of systems.
We do this the best way possible which is by using three independent dedicated NSI Gold approved monitoring stations.
Argus have the capability to monitor a wide variety of systems, and the ability to negotiate the best deal for our customers.
Argus Fire and Security trust three major Alarm Receiving Centres (ARC) with the monitoring of our customer’s systems, Advanced Independent Monitoring Station (AIM), East Midlands Monitoring Station (EMCS) and VRC Monitoring.
We receive an excellent service from all providers and connect our customers to the ARC that most suits their requirements.
Argus can provide all types of monitoring from the most basic to the most secure with police response and dual path signaling.
When an attempted break-in is detected by an Intruder Alarm or CCTV System, the system cannot physically prevent a loss of goods but relies on the monitoring station alerting key-holders, neighbours, and in some instances call the Police to the problem. Argus Fire and Security only use NSI Gold approved ARC’s for police response monitored systems who are inspected to the latest BS & EN Standards.

All of our keyholding services meet BS7984:2008 standards, providing you with total peace of mind that you are receiving a secure and reliable service.
