Automatic Sliding Doors

At Auto Door Specialists we use the latest technology from Italy, Germany and Switzerland to power our automatic sliding doors. All of our products are CE approved very high quality and are proven to be reliable. We have a range of automation units including one which is only 10cms (4″) high; this product fits unobtrusively into almost any opening. It is particularly appropriate where headroom is limited and for ‘all glass entrances’ where larger automation units would spoil the overall appearance.

All of our products are extremely reliable, low maintenance and are suitable for both single and double leaf doors. Heavy door leaves can be automated through the use of additional heavy duty carriagesStandard features we offer on all sliding doors are:

Full threshold safety
Side screen safety
Pocket screens − where required or requested
Emergency opening in the event of a fire or power failure
Various methods of activation
Single Sliding Door

Single Sliding Door

The minimum brick to brick width required for a single sliding door allowing a clear opening of 1,000mm is 2,450mm, with a pocket screen this reduces to 2,250mm.
Bi-Parting Sliding Doors

Bi-Parting Sliding Doors

The minimum brick to brick width required for a pair of sliding doors allowing a clear opening of 1,000mm is 2,770mm, with pocket screens this reduces to 2,430mm.

The measurements shown allows the back stile of the door to stop 200mm from the brickwork to prevent trapping hazards and to comply with EN16005. Pocket screen/s can be erected in front of the fixed side screen to create a pocket for the door to open into. Pedestrians are protected from trapping hazards by the screen so the door can open right back to the walls thus increasing the available clear opening by 200mm for a single door and 400mm for a pair of doors.

Where the opening is narrow, providing there are no impediments to the door opening over the face of the building, the door/s can be hung on the inside face of the opening and the door/s can then open over it.
Automatic Swing Doors

Automatic Swing Doors

Fully automatic doors are most commonly found on retail and commercial sites. These require no action by the user to open them so safety must be built in to the installation. The doors open as they are approached from either side when they are sent a signal to open automatically, usually by motion sensors.
The revised regulations, EN16005, have increased the levels of safety required for automatic doors. Previously doors which required the user to activate the door, usually by pressing a push pad required less safety features to be compliant.

Under the new guidelines any door which may be used by infirm, elderly or disabled users must be fitted with full safety features. Automatic doors activated by push pads can still be used as manual doors by the able bodied as the resistance posed by the operator is no more than a standard manual door closer.

All automatic doors are a perfect solution for compliance with the Equality Act 2010.
Domestic Installations

Domestic Installations

We undertake installations to domestic properties. These are usually for the less able or elderly customers to allow them to enter, exit and move more freely around their homes.
Front & Back Doors

Front & Back Doors

Our front door package allows the resident to open the external door automatically, usually by using a key fob transmitter. This removes the need for keys and eliminates the problem of trying to open the door manually. We meet all our end users to assess their capabilities and to provide the most appropriate method of activation specific to their abilities and requirements. For relatives and carers we can fit a keypad outside which has an integral fob reader so authorised visitors can gain entry without disturbing the resident.
Bathrooms

Bathrooms

We have a specification which is designed for bathrooms and toilets to be used by less able people. It is simply to use and offers visual indication of when the bathroom is vacant or engaged. The door locks, unlocks and opens automatically from either side by touching a pad. We install an override system so that the door can be opened, even when occupied, in the event of an emergency. Ideal for disabled washrooms in schools and colleges and also domestic situations where locking is required.
Pocket Doors

Pocket Doors

We have operators available which will automate existing sliding internal doors which is designed to be concealed in a cavity so the door can slide into a pre-constructed pocket in the wall. The Equality Act - Disabled Doors

The Equality Act - Disabled Doors

There are 10 million disabled people registered in the UK and this group of consumers spend around £40 billion a year on goods and services.

Since 1st October 1999 all providers of goods and services have had to make ”reasonable adjustments” for disabled people, such as providing extra help or making changes to the way they deliver services or accommodate employees.

Since 1st October 2004 they may have had to make other “reasonable
adjustments” to the physical features of their premises to overcome barriers to access.
Activation Methods

Activation Methods

There are many methods of activating a door. The most common are motion sensors where the door opens as it is approached from either side and installations where the door is triggered by pressing a push pad.

We can mix and match activation methods for example, the door can open from the outside by pressing a push pad and open automatically from the other side via a motion sensor. This configuration is particularly appropriate when the door fronts a pavement with lots of foot traffic which is not necessarily entering the premises.

For our disabled clients we offer a range of activation methods dependent upon their individual dexterity. We have a number of hand held transmitters which vary in size and also larger button boxes for those with dexterity difficulties. The button on the transmitter/box is pressed and the door will open automatically from either side. We have also used blow switches, interfaces with environmental systems and long range readers for severely disabled clients.

We also have a system which allows clients to unlock and open a door from anywhere in the world using their mobile phone!

Our Products & Service Include:

Automatic Sliding Doors

At Auto Door Specialists, we employ cutting-edge technology sourced from Italy, Germany, and Switzerland to drive our automatic sliding doors. Our products boast CE approval, signifying their superior quality and unwavering reliability. Our array of automation units includes a compact option measuring just 10 centimeters (4 inches) in height, seamlessly integrating into various openings. This discreet solution is ideal for spaces with limited headroom and 'all glass entrances,' preserving the aesthetic integrity of the overall design.

Single Sliding Door

To achieve a clear opening width of 1,000mm for a single sliding door, the minimum brick-to-brick width required is 2,450mm. However, when incorporating a pocket screen into the design, this minimum width decreases to 2,250mm. This adjustment facilitates a more efficient use of space while maintaining the desired accessibility.

Bi-Parting Sliding Doors

For a pair of sliding doors with a clear opening of 1,000mm, the minimum brick-to-brick width required is 2,770mm, which reduces to 2,430mm with pocket screens. These measurements ensure that the back stile of the door remains 200mm away from the brickwork to prevent trapping hazards and comply with EN16005 regulations. Pocket screens can be installed in front of the fixed side screen to create a pocket for the door to open into, providing protection from trapping hazards and allowing the door to open fully to the walls, increasing the available clear opening by 200mm for a single door and 400mm for a pair of doors. In narrow openings where there are no obstructions, the doors can be hung on the inside face of the opening, enabling them to open over it.

Automatic Swing Doors

Typically situated in retail and commercial settings, fully automatic doors operate without user intervention, necessitating robust safety measures in their installation. Triggered by motion sensors, these doors open automatically upon approach from either side, ensuring seamless accessibility while prioritising safety.

Domestic Installations

Our installations primarily cater to residential properties, with a focus on enhancing accessibility and mobility for individuals who are elderly or have limited physical abilities. By implementing our services, we aim to empower these customers to navigate their homes with greater ease, facilitating effortless entry, exit, and movement throughout their living spaces.

Following the EN16005 guidelines for Power Operated Pedestrian Doorsets, we conduct yearly servicing to maintain pedestrian safety and fulfill health and safety requirements. Our comprehensive servicing entails thorough maintenance of operators, safety devices, and activation equipment, accompanied by compliance certificates issued for each door set, mitigating potential liability risks.

Our thorough servicing covers automatic swinging, sliding, and bi-folding doors, as well as tailored maintenance for shop front frameworks.

Regardless of whether it's through contracting, subcontracting, or individual projects, we offer a minimum 12-month warranty on all services provided, ensuring sustained reliability and operational effectiveness.

Great service from the Bally. He is professional, quick and reliable in all dealings with us, from the initial enquiry to completion. He continues to provide ongoing support and a fabulous service, throughout our portfolio as one of our trusted contractors. Highly recommended.

Bally has been looking after our automatic doors at our National Training Centre for many years - even before he set up on his own. He always attends promptly to deal with any issues, services and certifies our doors as required and even recently rebuilt an old, automatic sliding door which was no longer repairable due to parts not being available. He does not spend (our) money until it is necessary. He always goes the extra mile and his prices, I think, are reasonable. I hope to have a continued relationship well into the future.
