Drinks Industry Labels

Drinks Industry Labels

Labels in the wine, beer and spirits industry are creative hot spots for designers. Our extensive high-end embellishment capabilities allow our customers to seriously push the creative boundaries, giving their products an edge to stand out on the shelf.

We can create stunning labels in different materials, including sustainable labels, waterproof labels, metallic labels or foil labels. You can order any size or quantity, with bespoke finishing to add to the consumer experience.
Pharmaceutical Labels

Pharmaceutical Labels

Pharmaceutical labeling requirements are stricter than those for other products. In fact, pharmaceutical products require extra steps administered to ensure consumers get the right information. The label must remain in place on the container and be legible across its lifespan, including distribution, storage and use.

This will mean producing labels that have strong adhesive strength and are resistant to a number of extreme environments including water, UV light and cryogenic temperatures.

We can provide accurate serial numbering, barcoding and tamper evidence mechanisms to labels.
Cosmetics Labels

Cosmetics Labels

In the competitive industry of health and beauty, packaging is key. Managing consistent colours across a range of products no matter the size, substrate, finish and use of the label produced, is something you can count on Bakers for.

We also offer extensive finishing capabilities to add a premium luxury feel; peel and reveal options; quality print on a wide range of materials for print and finish. This includes a range of sustainable label options.
Industrial Labels

Industrial Labels

Labels that are required to endure extreme conditions, particularly over a long period of time without fading, flaking or falling off require durable materials and a permanent adhesive. We can produce what ever you require and can advise on our suitable range of substrates and laminates.
Small Vial Labels

Small Vial Labels

We are experts in producing labels for small vials such as vape products that not only need to look good for the consumer but also need to hold a lot of regulatory content printed in a very small area. Available options to consider would include:

Multi layer peel and reveal, tactile triangle, serial numbering / bar codes, holographic foiling, fluorescent and uv invisible ink.
Product Labels

Product Labels

No matter the product, we can produce the labels you require. Any shape, size, quantity and finish to suit the packaging they are being applied to. All markets from food and drink to household and gardening; mechanical and industrial to toys and electronics.
Security & Brand Protection

Security & Brand Protection

For products that require layers of security and brand protection we can provide a range of features using outstanding print quality and versatility including:

Digital Electroink invisible yellow and blue for invisible texts, codes and shapes only visible under UV light
Microtext that, to the naked eye, appears as a thin line or decoration
Variable data and images
Tamper evident material
Bar Code & Asset Labelling

Bar Code & Asset Labelling

Bar codes are almost standard on most product labels. QR codes and bar codes can be created in-house. Standard static codes plus full variable, consecutive and random are all possible.

Asset labels can be personalised with business or organisations name, logo and sequential numbering/barcode and then applied to your property, equipment or fixed assets.
Environmentally Friendly Labels

Environmentally Friendly Labels

We are frequently asked for advice and guidance on producing environmentally friendly labels.

Customers, producers, brand owners and consumers all have a different understanding of what they think they are asking for when they want their labels to be more environmentally friendly.

The first thing to do is clearly identify what they really want to achieve and if they understand the options available for their product.

A label usually becomes an integral part of the product to which it is applied. It is therefore important that both the packaging design and choice of label materials are compatible with what they are trying to achieve.
Trade Label Samples

Trade Label Samples

Digital Printing

Digital Printing

The HP Indigo WS6900 Digital Press is the market-leading narrow-web printing solution for digital labels and packaging production, delivering high productivity, wide versatility, and intelligent colour automation. At Bakers we now have 3 of them running side by side to provide new capabilities. The presses use the indichrome system, which is orange, violet and green as well as the conventional four colours CMYK; this gives a wider gamut of colour when reproducing pantone colours. The press also has a white channel for clear substrates but we can also add spot colours and specials such as fluorescent pink, silver or invisible blue and yellow. There is also a new metallic series of inks that will open new applications. The 6900s offer pioneering SmartStream Mosaic and Collage software allowing every label imagery to be unique − a commercial capability that our customers will truly be able to benefit from. In addition it facilitates synchronisation across all digital processes enabling greater consistency through small, medium and large print runs. The multi-threaded RIP reduces lead times whilst increasing productivity.
Flexo Printing

Flexo Printing

Nilpeter FB-3

The printer of choice for larger runs and for complex multi-layer, multi pass constructions. Featuring a rail system which contains De-Lam/Re-Lam, turner bar, 4 towers for over-laminating substrates and a crossover unit. We have also installed a servo re-insertion unit with web guide and a corona plus a rotary screen unit for embellishments, fluorescents etc.

The dual axis servo transport system ensures that the FB-3 will continuously deliver the highest level of print reproduction as well as unparalleled registration performance.

We’ve also installed a new rotary screen unit − the first one to be fitted to a FB3 Nilpeter. The main plan for the Stork unit is for re-registering work from the digitals to give high build and tactile effects but there are also opportunities to do more specialist work.

Omega Digicon Lite 3 - Corona, UV Flexo, overlaminating and diecutting. Maximum web width 330mm
Rewinders

Rewinders

We use both the HSR330 Rewinder and the Omega SRI Rewinder − the new generation of label converting and finishing with rewinding speeds of up to 350m/min. Fully integrated FleyeVision 100% inspection control with screen operation, connected with an integrated work flow for waste management. The SRI range uses the latest servo drive technology combined with PC/SPS based control resulting in a new level of sophistication to meet today’s ever increasing demands. In February 2018 we also installed an Auto Set Vectra SGTR glueless turret rewinder from AB Graphics. The Vectra SGTR holds the substrate to the cores at the start of a new roll without stopping or slowing down the converting equipment. In addition, it is fitted with a print and apply label applicator to close the finished roll with a label. Quick, fast and clean, it is especially suitable for rewinding labels which have been printed on heat sensitive substrates, or using heat sensitive inks, finishes or decorations.
HP Smartstream Mosaic & Collage

HP Smartstream Mosaic & Collage

Similar to variable data printing, but on a whole new level. Rather than using a database to swap out variable text and images, HP Smartstream Mosaic and Collage transforms artwork randomly. The result? Every single label can be unique. Using one or many vector PDF files or “seed files”, the software generates a large number of file variations by scaling, rotating, and transposing the images. This creates variable image assets which are then printed on one of our HP Indigo digital presses.
Truepress Jet L350 UV & L350 UV+LM Inkjet Digital Presses

Truepress Jet L350 UV & L350 UV+LM Inkjet Digital Presses

The Screen inkjet presses complement the Indigos. They are faster, with excellent up-time and eat the work, with a very good white for clear and silver stocks. High pigmented colours with a combination of advanced print heads & screening can produce smoother gradations resulting in truly stunning photo quality detail that’s up to 600 dpi at a top speed of 50m p/m or 30m p/m with white. The L350UV+LM offers an increased colour gamut including orange ink along with the C, M, Y, K set and white ink. Orange ink enables richer reproduction of vivid colours, adding to the visual appeal of fruits and other foods.

Ideal for top quality high scuff resistant products on multiple substrates with possible savings on over-laminates or even varnishing. We have introduced fully variable capability on the machine, now able to print complex multi-page PDFs. The UV cured ink has a much higher build than the Indigo with the result being more of a screen label look than litho with very wide colour gamut, giving a high gloss, durable and lightfast result with great scratch resistance. In addition, the L350 UV+LM has an incredibly stable transport mechanism that tightly controls paper feeding to maintain optimal transfer conditions. This precision is essential for producing detailed dot codes such as QR and barcodes, as well as any other security printing requiring a high level of accuracy.

Digital Printing
Baker Labels operates three HP Indigo digital presses, including one 6K and two WS6900 models, to offer enhanced capabilities for label and packaging production. These presses use the Indichrome system (orange, violet, green, plus CMYK) for a wider color gamut, including Pantone reproduction, and feature a white channel for clear substrates. We can also add spot colours and specialty inks like fluorescent pink, silver, and invisible blue. The 6900 models utilise SmartStream Mosaic and Collage software for unique label designs, offering a new level of creativity and consistency across all print runs. The multi-threaded RIP improves productivity by reducing lead times.

Flexo Printing
The FB-3 Nilpeter is our preferred printer for large runs and complex multi-layer, multi-pass constructions, equipped with a rail system for De-Lam/Re-Lam, turner bar, four over-laminating towers, and a crossover unit. It also features a servo re-insertion unit with web guide, corona, and a new rotary screen unit for embellishments and special inks. The dual-axis servo transport system ensures top-tier print reproduction and exceptional registration. Additionally, the newly installed rotary screen unit allows for re-registering work from digital presses, creating high-build and tactile effects, while offering the potential for more specialised applications.

Finishers
We operate a range of advanced ABG and Omega Digicon machines for high-quality label production. The ABG Digicon Series 3 features two flexo heads, a Big Foot hot foil/embossing unit, laminating stations, flatbed silkscreen, FlyeVision, die cutting, and auto slit knives, with a maximum web width of 330mm. The Omega Digicon Series 2 includes flexo, overlam/cold foil, DigiJet, die cutting, FlyeVision, auto slit knives, and an in-line turret rewinder, also with a 330mm web width. Additionally, the Omega Digicon Lite 1 and Lite 3 machines offer corona treatment, UV flexo, overlaminating, and die cutting, both with a 330mm maximum web width.
