Environmentally Friendly Labels
Customers, producers, brand owners and consumers all have a different understanding of what they think they are asking for when they want their labels to be more environmentally friendly.
The first thing to do is clearly identify what they really want to achieve and if they understand the options available for their product.
A label usually becomes an integral part of the product to which it is applied. It is therefore important that both the packaging design and choice of label materials are compatible with what they are trying to achieve.

Digital Printing
Flexo Printing
The printer of choice for larger runs and for complex multi-layer, multi pass constructions. Featuring a rail system which contains De-Lam/Re-Lam, turner bar, 4 towers for over-laminating substrates and a crossover unit. We have also installed a servo re-insertion unit with web guide and a corona plus a rotary screen unit for embellishments, fluorescents etc.
The dual axis servo transport system ensures that the FB-3 will continuously deliver the highest level of print reproduction as well as unparalleled registration performance.
We’ve also installed a new rotary screen unit − the first one to be fitted to a FB3 Nilpeter. The main plan for the Stork unit is for re-registering work from the digitals to give high build and tactile effects but there are also opportunities to do more specialist work.

HP Smartstream Mosaic & Collage
Truepress Jet L350 UV & L350 UV+LM Inkjet Digital Presses
Ideal for top quality high scuff resistant products on multiple substrates with possible savings on over-laminates or even varnishing. We have introduced fully variable capability on the machine, now able to print complex multi-page PDFs. The UV cured ink has a much higher build than the Indigo with the result being more of a screen label look than litho with very wide colour gamut, giving a high gloss, durable and lightfast result with great scratch resistance. In addition, the L350 UV+LM has an incredibly stable transport mechanism that tightly controls paper feeding to maintain optimal transfer conditions. This precision is essential for producing detailed dot codes such as QR and barcodes, as well as any other security printing requiring a high level of accuracy.

Digital Printing
Baker Labels operates three HP Indigo digital presses, including one 6K and two WS6900 models, to offer enhanced capabilities for label and packaging production. These presses use the Indichrome system (orange, violet, green, plus CMYK) for a wider color gamut, including Pantone reproduction, and feature a white channel for clear substrates. We can also add spot colours and specialty inks like fluorescent pink, silver, and invisible blue. The 6900 models utilise SmartStream Mosaic and Collage software for unique label designs, offering a new level of creativity and consistency across all print runs. The multi-threaded RIP improves productivity by reducing lead times.
Flexo Printing
The FB-3 Nilpeter is our preferred printer for large runs and complex multi-layer, multi-pass constructions, equipped with a rail system for De-Lam/Re-Lam, turner bar, four over-laminating towers, and a crossover unit. It also features a servo re-insertion unit with web guide, corona, and a new rotary screen unit for embellishments and special inks. The dual-axis servo transport system ensures top-tier print reproduction and exceptional registration. Additionally, the newly installed rotary screen unit allows for re-registering work from digital presses, creating high-build and tactile effects, while offering the potential for more specialised applications.
Finishers
We operate a range of advanced ABG and Omega Digicon machines for high-quality label production. The ABG Digicon Series 3 features two flexo heads, a Big Foot hot foil/embossing unit, laminating stations, flatbed silkscreen, FlyeVision, die cutting, and auto slit knives, with a maximum web width of 330mm. The Omega Digicon Series 2 includes flexo, overlam/cold foil, DigiJet, die cutting, FlyeVision, auto slit knives, and an in-line turret rewinder, also with a 330mm web width. Additionally, the Omega Digicon Lite 1 and Lite 3 machines offer corona treatment, UV flexo, overlaminating, and die cutting, both with a 330mm maximum web width.
