Rafter Glazing Bar Systems

Rafter Glazing Bar Systems

The P261 rafter glazing bar system is designed to sit on rafters with a minimum width of 60mm. It consists of a 60mm wide gasket that is attached to the rafter using galvanised nails (not supplied) every 300mm along its length and a screw-down aluminium capping bar fitted with bubble gaskets that should be screwed down every 300-350mm. Plastic screw cover caps should be used with the capping bar screws. A polycarbonate push fit end plate finishes off each bar.

The P261 glazing bar system can be used to glaze multiwall or solid polycarbonate as well as glass up to 24mm thick. We recommend replacing the standard end plates with an aluminium mechanical end plate when installing glass. You should contact your glass supplier regarding recommended rafter sizes and glazing centres.

The P261 is also available with a wider, angled cap to accommodate a hip, reference P261H.

This glazing bar system is stocked as individual packs in white, brown or aluminium mill finish in a range of lengths.

Additional individual end plates are also available separately.
TapcoSlate Plastic Roof Slate

TapcoSlate Plastic Roof Slate

Made from recyclable plastic and Dolomite limestone, TapcoSlates have the random texture and edges of natural slate, and are available in a range of attractive colours and blends.

They are lightweight from only 12 kgs/m², (half the weight of natural slate), easy to handle and can be fixed by either hammer and nail or nail gun. Very useful for re-roofing applications where timbers may be suspect, or when designing the loading specification for a new roof.

Where natural slate can vary in thickness, causing gapping, and subsequent breakage if walked on, TapcoSlates are dimensionally accurate so there is no need to sort for thickness before loading the roof.

Slates are marked with nailing and exposure overlaps and horizontal spacers to maintain integrity when fixing. Product doesn't crack or split, particularly when cutting for hips, valleys, etc. and is quicker to lay than natural slate. Natural slate may incur 5-15% breakage/shrinkage factor depending on the quality.

TapcoSlates have excellent weathering characteristics; they will not curl, lift or delaminate, and are impermeable to water. A production induced camber ensures the slates follow the roof contours for maximum wind uplift protection.
Domes & Rooflights

Domes & Rooflights

Sleek, contemporary aesthetics inside and out have been central to the design vision for Mardome. The clean lines of the pristine white kerb complement the aerodynamic low rise glazing unit giving the overall impression of a modern, stylish rooflight feature. An architectural aluminium security frame on Mardome Ultra conceals the security fixings for a superior finish. Internally, all cabling and actuators are hidden within the kerb on mains powered units for an uninterrupted streamlined lightwell which contributes to the overall design architecture of internal spaces.

Rooflights have an important part to play in the energy efficiency of your building. So the new Mardome has been designed to be the most insulating unit ever without compromising on the quality of natural light transmission. A new multi-wall kerb has been incorporated to achieve higher levels of insulation. The unique glazing cassette improves thermal performance and facilitates more energy efficient triple and quad skin glazing options. The overall result is that triple skin Mardome rooflights achieve a centre pane U-value of 1.8 W/m²K and a Ud-value which ranges from 1.25W/m²K for a 600x600mm dome to 1.51W/m²K for a 1200x2400mm dome. Higher performance glazing options can further reduce the Ud-value to as low as 0.95W/m²K, exceeding the requirements of Part L of The Building Regulations 2006.

Ease of installation has been a key consideration in the design of Mardome. Every Mardome is delivered complete and ready to fit. The new multi-wall kerb is robust and resilient to damage during installation. A factory fitted membrane clamp has been incorporated to the kerb, which holds the roofing felt or membrane in-place during installation and acts to prevent peel back of the roof covering once fitted. The kerb foot has also been specially designed to allow the roof covering to be finished without the need for any timber fillets.
Canopies, Carports & Shelters

Canopies, Carports & Shelters

Powder coated aluminium frames glazed with virtually unbreakable multiwall polycarbonate roofing panels combine to create these top quality, robust and elegant kit canopies.

The aluminium will not rust if it gets the odd scratch and should never require repainting, while the tough polycarbonate glazing only needs an annual wash down to keep its good looks.

Our canopies can be used for both domestic and commercial uses, where they make great:

Car ports
Patio covers
Garden verandas
School playground covers, quiet areas and weather protected working areas
Pub, hotel and office smoking shelters

Polycarbonate is impervious to UV in natural light, so is an ideal roof glazing choice for a children's covered area.

Although generally fitted by the professional builder, the competent DIYer should also be able to install one of our canopies without issue. Full fixing instructions are supplied with all the components required, –you just need your standard equipment - power tools, etc.
Awnings & Sunshades

Awnings & Sunshades

Our awning solutions allow you to enjoy the outdoors for social gatherings or relaxing and enjoying the privacy of your garden without worrying about the changeable UK weather.

Not only are our awnings ideal for creating shade and shelter for large outside areas such as terraces, balconies, patios and gardens, but also perfect for commercial settings such as shops, bars, restaurants and cafes, ensuring customers are comfortably protected from the weather.
Solid Polycarbonate Sheet

Solid Polycarbonate Sheet

Our clear solid polycarbonate sheet is available in a range of thicknesses from 3mm up to 12mm. It has double sided UV protection and is over 200 times stronger than the equivalent thickness of standard float glass, making it virtually unbreakable and able to withstand accidental impacts and determined acts of vandalism.

Solid polycarbonate is very light in weight, making it easy to handle and transport. It has a good light transmission and is an excellent choice for low level glazing in schools and other public buildings. It has good fire behaviour characteristics and receives high ratings in several major European fire performance tests. It achieves a class 1Y rating to BS476 Part 7 surface spread of flame.
Multiwall Polycarbonate Sheet

Multiwall Polycarbonate Sheet

Glazing products manufactured from multiwall polycarbonate have excellent impact resistance, are light in weight, easy to handle and offer excellent long-term weather durability at both high and low temperatures. Polycarbonate glazing can provide high levels of light transmission and heat insulation, combining to offer good energy savings, especially in buildings with a 24-7 working pattern.

We offer a range of multiwall polycarbonate glazing products, designed for different applications, markets and budgets:

- Standard Multiwall Polycarbonate sheet may be used for either vertical or roof glazing applications. It is available in a range of tints, thickness, width and length. It may also be cold curved to create barrel vaulted roof glazing.
- Recycled Multiwall Polycarbonate sheet is a cost effective version of the above. This is not available as a clear product.
- Clickfix 1040 is a 500mm wide, 40mm thick multiwall polycarbonate plank that clicks together to form either a vertical wall or a sloping roof glazed within an aluminium frame.

Please note that multiwall glazing is designed to be used with the flutes running down the slope (or length), i.e. away from the wall. Installing it with the flutes horizontal to the wall may result in failure, especially in high winds or heavy snow falls.

Typical applications for this versatile glazing material include:

- Industrial and commercial roof glazing / northlights
- School playground canopies and walkways
- Commercial and domestic greenhouses
- High level vertical glazing
- Vertical glazing where light is required, but combined with an element of privacy
- Roof glazing for car ports and patio covers
- Conservatory roofing
- Partition walls

Multiwall polycarbonate may be recycled at the end of its long life span.
Structural Glazing Bar Systems

Structural Glazing Bar Systems

We offer a wide range of structural glazing bar systems, the majority of which can be used for glazing with glass or solid polycarbonate, in addition to the multiwall polycarbonate for which they were designed.

A structural glazing bar system, sometimes referred to as 'self-supporting glazing bar' is designed to free-span from the ridge down to the eaves on a sloping roof. The table below shows our range of structural bars and their spanning capacity. If your required length is longer than the recommended spans, a cross member or purlin is required to provide additional support for the glazing bars.
Glazing Accessories & Fixings

Glazing Accessories & Fixings

We supply a wide selection of glazing accessories, profiles and fixings to complement our range of glazing bars.

From side trims, eaves fillers, end closures, screws and fixing buttons to more heavy duty items such as aluminium wall plates, eaves beams and posts, you can select exactly what you need to build your roof.

In addition to the powder coated aluminium profiles, we also supply a small range of cost-effective uPVC profiles primarily designed for use with our P700 snap-fit rafter glazing bar system, these uPVC products are however not suitable for use if glazing with glass.

The use of stainless steel screws is strongly recommended with our aluminium glazing bars and accessories to avoid a metallurgic reaction that may occur between aluminium and other metals.
