Press Brakes

A press brake, sometimes known as a brake press, is a staple item in most sheet metal workshops. The new press brakes from Morgan Rushworth cater for a huge variety of requirements. From simple hydraulic press brakes to advanced servo electric and hybrid models there is something for everyone. Whether you are looking for fast, accurate folding of brackets, simple intuitive programming or are wanting to save energy and reduce your carbon footprint, we have a press brake which can help. Capacities vary from small compact machines to heavy duty high tonnage models.

Bending Rolls

Between Morgan Rushworth and MG, we can offer almost every type of bending rolls from small sheet metal slip rolls to heavy hydraulic plate rolls. Different designs include asymmetrical and pyramid roll configuration and 2-roll, 3-roll and 4-roll bending machines. Sheet bending rolls for lighter gauge material are often of the initial pinch design with either manual or motorised operation, while plate bending rolls are usually hydraulic and of the double pinch design. Cone rolling is also available on either standard or special models. NC or CNC controls are offered as well as various levels of automation.

CNC Plasma Cutting Machines

We offer new industrial CNC plasma cutting machines from both Ajan and Morgan Rushworth. These mechanised gantry design plasma cutters feature standard or high-definition plasma sources from either Ajan or Hypertherm. The compact air plasma cutters use the highly rated Hypertherm Powermax models along with a mechanised cutting torch. Ajan plasma cutting machines offer extremely high edge quality and bolt hole cutting with their Opti Hole system. Morgan Rushworth models feature Hypertherm XPR 170 or 300 plasma with True Hole and X-Definition technology. Both models are offered with optional oxy-fuel cutting.

Waterjet Cutting Machines

A waterjet cutting machine is unique in its ability to cut both metallic and non-metallic material with a completely cold cutting process. Unlike thermal cutting processes, the profiled material has no heat affected zone (HAZ) which can potentially cause issues such as reduced mechanical strength or corrosion resistance. A CNC waterjet cutter is also able to process extremely thick material while still giving an excellent edge quality with a minimum amount of taper. For some lighter materials pure waterjet is used, however for cutting metal an abrasive waterjet process is used with the introduction of a garnet material into the cutting jet.

Folders

We offer an extensive range of Morgan Rushworth metal folding machines from small manual models through to advanced CNC machines. Many of the folders are capable of box and pan folding while others are designed for straight folding only. Manual counterbalance folders are still commonly used for small batch work although hydraulic and powered models have gained much more popularity for production folding. CNC folding machines are normally configured with a powered back gauge and include models with a rotating beam for both straight and box and pan folding.

Bandsaws

The Bianco and Sterling bandsaw ranges cover the vast majority of sawing applications. Industrial metal cutting band saws are either of the horizontal or vertical design, with horizontal band saws by far the most common. Different types of bandsaws include pivot or twin pillar models with pull down, manual, semi-automatic, automatic and CNC operation. Straight cutting and mitring head designs are available with single or double mitring models typically offered for cutting structural beams, box sections, angles, channels and other profiles. Different machines are aimed at cutting solid bars and packs of material.

Steelworkers & Punches

Morgan Rushworth offers several models of steelworkers and punching machines. Steelworkers are also referred to by several other names such as iron workers, metal workers and punch & shears. While older models were mechanically operated, modern steelworkers are typically hydraulic machines and offer a number of work stations for punching, shearing, cropping and notching of mild steel and other metals. Punching machines are single punching stations for where the other operations are not required; these are offered as single or double ended machines.

Pillar Drills

Our new Meyer industrial pillar drills are available in various capacities for drilling steel of up to 50mm diameter hole size. These heavy-duty drilling machines are of a floor standing, geared head design and feature large tables and generous column diameters. Models are available for drilling and tapping on the same machine and many of the models features a coolant system. Tables can be raised and lowered and on some machines the head can be moved as well. The Meyer drilling machines are offered as both manual and automatic feed variations.

Guillotines

Metal cutting guillotines are known by various names including a swing beam shear, power shear sheet metal guillotine and variable rake guillotine, in some cases reflecting the design of the machine. Morgan Rushworth direct drive mechanical guillotines are suitable for cutting lighter gauge sheet metal, with hydraulic swing beam shears and variable rake guillotines available for heavier gauge sheet and plate. Even with the advent of modern profile cutting machines, the guillotine still has a place in most fabrication workshops.

Here at Bison Machinery, we offer new industrial fibre laser cutting machines from both Morgan Rushworth and RVD Machinery. The range includes both flat sheet and tube cutting lasers; sheet and plate cutting models are offered in a compact design and with a shuttle or exchange table. For high production environments, different levels of automation are available. In recent years fibre laser cutters have become a lot more affordable and an increasing number of companies are investing to bring profile cutting back in-house.

Radial Arm Drills

The Meyer range of radial arm drills are high precision machines and are of extremely heavy duty construction. The range covers models from 820mm arm capacity up to 2500mm arm capacity with a comprehensive list of standard features including, on the larger models, hydraulic action for clamping of the arm to the column, the head to the arm and selection of gears. All models meet safety standards with DC injection brakes with aerial stops, providing an instant stop, fitted as standard across the range.

Lathes

Our new Meyer conventional precision centre lathes are offered in different swing diameters and distances between centres, starting from small tool room lathes to very large industrial models. Metal lathes are able to perform turning, parting off, facing off and thread cutting operations and are normally supplied with a steady and follow rest as standard equipment. Many manual centre lathes feature a gap bed design allowing the turning of larger diameters closer to the chuck. Standard safety features include an interlocked chuck guard.

Press Brake Bending Robots

The Antil APR Press Brake Bending Robots are a versatile solution for automating bending production utilising either a new or existing press brake. Automating press brakes with an APR robot is a highly effective way of increasing productivity without limiting bending capabilities. These models offer serious advantages over traditional robot formats, being easy to program and operate, and with the gantry design, removing common limitations in handling the material. Significantly the APR robot does not require a dedicated press brake but can be parked to one side, allowing use in manual mode for single pieces or small batch work. When a production run is required the robot can be set to run automatically; either during the day or often at the end of a shift for full ‘lights out’ operation. As well as improving productivity the APR is also used for bending large, awkward components which would normally need two operators to handle; this brings immediate benefits in both cost savings and operator safety.

Drilling & Tapping Machines

The Volumec Drilltronic is an articulated arm drilling and tapping machine with a high performance brushless motor. Optionally, the machine can be supplied with a table or be mounted on a floor stand. In its basic form the machine is positioned manually but when fitted with the optional Volumec Assisted Positioning System (VAPS) the machine will automatically lock at the programmed position. VAPS allows easy programming from the control in X and Y coordinates for square or rectangular parts or in diameter and angle between holes for circular workpieces.
