Security Chains and Padlocks

Chain Slings

Chain slings are available in various grades and materials with the most widely used in the UK being Grade 8 (or G8) alloy. LINX-8 Grade 8 chain slings are both economical and of high quality and are available in chain sizes from 6mm to 32mm along with a comprehensive range of fittings that cover a wide variety of applications. LINX-8 G8 chain slings fully conform to EN818-4 (chain to EN818-2 and components to EN1677).

Pewag Profilift Lifting Points, Lashing Points & Fall Arrest Anchor Points

Pewag Profilift screwable and weld-on lifting points correspond to the Machine Directive (MRL) 2006/42/EC and Machine Safety Prescriptions (MSV) 2010 as well as EN 1677-1 technical specifications.

Sometimes referred to as swivel hoist rings or swivel lifting eyes, Pewag lifting points are manufactured in the company's ISO 9001 and 14001 certified plants and guarantee a minimum factor of safety of 4:1 with maximum dynamic load tests achieving a minimum of 20,000 cycles at 2.5 times the working load limit. Each lifting point is marked with an individual serial number and / or batch number for full traceability.

Pewag Winner Plate Lifting Clamps

Lifting clamps are used in general lifting applications and are compatible with a wide array of designs, loads and attachments.
Suitable for lifting steel plates and structures, Pewag lifting clamps are user-friendly, safe and have a long lifespan courtesy of their solid, premium-quality steel construction.
All Pewag lifting clamps are tested to up to twice the maximum load capacity and comply with all standards and regulations, such as European standard EN 13155, Australian standard 4991, North American standard ASME B30.20-2010 and European Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

Stainless Steel Chains and Fittings

PEWAG stainless steel chains and fittings are manufactured to the highest possible standards and are recognised as such throught the industry. This is backed up with the reassurances of a Quality Approved ISO 9001 : 2008 certified company.
Chain assemblies fully comply with the requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and all chains and components come clearly marked with batch numbers and manufacturers marks allowing full traceability throughout the manufacturing process.

Pewag Winner Fire Chains for Hot Galvanizing Plants

Lifting chains for hot dip galvanizing plants have to withstand extremely arduous working conditions and as a result require a very special type of product to cope with the rigours of such an environment.
On one side there are the high working temperatures which can reach up to 475ºC. Then there is the operation within the zinc bath which constantly removes material from the chain. On top of this there is an acidic bath which is used to clean the goods prior to plating, and it is this process that produces hydrogen which is dangerous to high strength alloy material and can result in hydrogen embrittlement.

Hoists

We stock a wide variety of hand operated chain hoists including the Premium Line NITCHI H50A, Economy Line NITCHI HE50A, ELLER PH3 and the budget range of ELLER PHE1.
Also held on stock is the full range of NITCHI RB5 and ELLER PR3 lever hoists.
NITCHI chain hoists offer an uncompromising blend of quality and value and all hoists are fully serviceable with spares being held at our warehouse in Warrington.
ELLER hoists offer are a more economical alternative without compromising on quality. They are fully serviceable and the most common parts are readily available.

Load Lashing Chains

Load lashing or load restraint is a vital component for the safe transport of goods whether this be by road, rail or sea. Outside forces applied to the load caused by the effects of breaking, accelerating or cornering have a dramatic effect on how the load is to be restrained.
In a similar way to how we select lifting equipment, the shape and type of load as well as the effects of the working angles of the lashings, can increase the forces considered and consequently these factors affect the choice of both the type of lashing that should be selected and the method of how they should be used (friction or direct lashing).

Shackles

Brindley Chains are able to offer a variety of shackles for many different lifting applications. From Black Pin Fed Spec range of shackles which are used widely throughout many industries, to the specialist 316 stainless steel Chain Link shackles which were designed by Brindley Chains specifically for the water industry.

Forestry Chains and Products

Pewag are well known for producing high quality chains and components for all kinds of forestry applications. From logging chains to machine tyre traction chains, Pewag can provide effective solutions to suit most needs.

Mechanical Handling Systems

The principle innovative component in the bucket elevator system is the patented BDS bucket attachment, which allows the buckets to be attached to an endless chain. Importantly this component is not a wear- part and can be reused on replacement chains. It can also be used to upgrade basic chain and shackle systems using existing buckets (normally without re-drilling)
The pewag bucket elevator system utilises either friction or toothed drive wheels depending on the requirements of the application.
Brindley Chains can carry out a free-of-charge survey of any existing bucket elevator installation, and also advise on the possibility of performance upgrades etc.

Pewag Tyre Protection Chains

Heavy wheeled loaders working in quarries, steel mill operations, and other hostile environments must take steps to protect their tyres. Today's costs for their repair or replacement, added to the expense of downtime and lost production of the machine, makes the fitting of tyre protection chains a necessity in many industrial applications.
In addition to providing protection, the chain mesh can also improve traction, especially at the quarry face, where the working surface is covered with sharp-edged loose rock. In these conditions the performance of the loader can be considerably enhanced by the use of tyre protection chains.

Chain Tags

For a number of years now Brindley Chains has been supplying the UK lifting industry with purpose made high quality chain tags. These tags are available in both G8 and G10 versions and are based around an 8 and 10 pointed star respectively.
Looking for an improved alternative to the traditional hammer close 'chain tab', Brindley Chains set about designing a durable and informative tag that could be attached to a chain sling via a separate attachment link. It was necessary to design the tag and link so that it was both easy to fit during the sling assembly, and robust enough to withstand the rigours of use on site without becoming detached from the sling. The result is what you can find for sale at Brindley Chains today, and these very tags are favoured by many of the well known and respected lifting gear companies within the industry.

Spring balancers work by maintaining a stable tension when the cable is pulled out or retracted and this is achieved thanks to the tapered drum. Stainless Steel Shackles

Our range of stainless steel Dee and bow shackles are available with a variety of pin types.
Our exclusive CLS Chain Link Shackles were developed primarily for use in the water industry. The design of the shackle prevents it's removal from the pump chain after installation and the pin is designed so that it can not work loose during service.

Grade 10 (G10, G100)

Grade 10 (or G10) chain slings are becoming more widely used due to their increase in load capacity of +25% over Grade 8. This increase in working load limit (WLL) allows the user in certain circumstances to select a smaller chain diameter than that of G8 which makes the sling lighter and therefore easier to handle. G10 material is also slightly harder than G8 which gives the added benefit of increased toughness and longer service life. Pewag Winner Grade 100 chain slings are produced to the highest possible quality standards and the range of fittings available make this one of the most comprehensive chain sling systems available. Chain sizes from 5mm to 32mm offer lifting capacities of up to 85 tonnes on a four leg sling.

Grade 12 (G12, G120)

Pewag Winner Pro Grade 12 (or G12 / G120) chain slings are available offering an increase in load capacity of +20% over G10 and 50% over G8. This allows the user to select a full chain size lower than that of G8 whilst maintaining a comparative WLL resulting in a significant weight saving.
The special profiled chain which was developed by Pewag and used in the Winner Pro G12 system offers significant improvements in bending resistance when compared to round section chains (6% increase) which is particularly useful when loading a sling over a corner.

A padlock is intended to offer high security and an ability to deter a break-in. But this can only be achieved if the right padlock is specified.
However, any security is only as good as the weakest link. Knowing the difference between a traditional padlock type and the right padlock for the application is key.
