Green Graphite Electrodes

Green Graphite Electrodes

We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint by recovering used and damaged electrodes and reconditioning them into green graphite electrodes. This energy-efficient production process not only dramatically reduces the amount of energy required to create high quality electrodes but also stops thousands of tonnes of graphite being sent to landfill sites.
Arc Furnace Electrodes

Arc Furnace Electrodes

Graphite electrodes are primarily used in electric arc furnaces for the steel production process. Large electrical currents are passed through the low conductivity electrodes, the power causes electric arcs between the tips of the electrodes and across the liquid steel, the arc is white hot circa 5000ºC. This heat melts the scrap steel and allows the production of liquid steel. Due to the heat and power, the electrode is consumed by the turbulent gases in the immediate vicinity. Consequently the electrodes are continually fed into the furnace maintaining the optimal distance between the electrode and the liquid steel for arc continuity. Graphite is the only material that can withstand the high temperatures and efficiently transmit the electrical power required to create the arc mentioned above.
EDM Spark Erosion & Gouging Rods

EDM Spark Erosion & Gouging Rods

These are electrodes that are used in electrical discharge machining, also known as spark eroding or spark machining. The process involves using a controlled spark to erode metal.
Machining Graphite

Machining Graphite

We’ve been precision machining graphite parts since 2004, in addition, many of our staff have been machining graphite since the 1980s, thus we have years of technical expertise on-hand when it comes to these skilled and intricate operations.
Graphite Machined Parts

Graphite Machined Parts

Coidan Graphite have been producing precision machined graphite parts for generations.
CFC & Insulation

CFC & Insulation

Graphite insulation materials have excellent thermal properties, which can result in improved temperature uniformity and no contamination at elevated temperatures.
New Vacuum Furnaces

New Vacuum Furnaces

We can supply brand new vacuum furnaces to meet your specification.
Second Hand Refurbished Vacuum Furnaces

Second Hand Refurbished Vacuum Furnaces

We can offer reconditioned vacuum furnaces to meet your requirements.
Carbon Fibre Composite (CFC)

Carbon Fibre Composite (CFC)

Carbon Fibre Composite (CFC) also described as Carbon Carbon Composite (CCC) is a light weight structural element within a furnace hot zone to either protect the insulation or to provide strength and rigidity with a low thermal mass. Equally the CFC can be used as heating elements giving long spans with low mass. We can essentially supply whatever you would like us to design − CFC angles, CFC channels, Carbon fibre hearth beams, carbon fibre furnace bases, vacuum furnace protection plates, vacuum furnace heating elements. Carbon fibre studding, nuts and washers.
Very popular items are the CFC Temperature Uniformity Survey (TUS) frames − these replace the nickel alloy TUS frames which distort and become unusable in a short time. Bespoke or modular jigs and fixtures are also popular being lightweight your energy is being spent heating (and cooling) components rather than supports and fixtures.

About us

With 20 years experience in the design and engineering industries, Coidan Graphite Products are a leading UK specialist in graphite materials manufacturing tube heat exchangers and carbon and graphite components for vacuum furnaces.

Coidan Graphite Products, located in a purpose built site in Yorkshire, has a state of the art manufacturing facility and numerous machining tools enabling us to produce one off engineered graphite and carbon components or production runs of many hundred of heat exchanger units to the customers’ exact specifications.
  • Heat Exchangers − We can design and fabricate cost effective heat exchangers using reactive metals.
  • Graphite Machining − We can manufacture numerous graphite components, handling large volume or one off orders.
  • Vacuum Furnaces − Our graphite components can be used to form single hot zone spare parts as well as supply a new vacuum furnace encompassing rebuilding hot zones.
As a specialist in the manufacture and supply of carbon and graphite products, Coidan has the technical know how to produce items such as graphite furnace parts, graphite insulation or bespoke graphite machined components. Our experience in working with specialty materials such as Graphite, Titanium and Tantalum is hard won, making us extremely proud of our achievements.

The success of our vacuum furnace division has led to large customer demand for complete hot zone rebuilds as well as the supply of fully refurbished second hand furnaces manufactured by Seco Warwick.

In addition, Coidan Graphite Products are long established partners and agents for Titan Metal Fabricators manufacturing Tantalum and Titanium process equipment and vessels as well as Wilk Graphite purveyors of graphite heat exchangers and graphite process equipment.

Carbon and Graphite materials have properties which lead to their use in many applications in industries as diverse as aerospace, solar industry, medical equipment and heavy engineering.
