DSEAR Awareness Lectures
Our DSEAR Awareness lectures are designed to raise awareness for those most at risk. In almost all operational facilities, this is those persons employed either in the storage, handling, or processing of flammable substances, on a daily basis.
Whatever the job function, each of the chemistry experiments conducted during a lecture, are designed to demonstrate to employees, how the risks associated with flammable substances are so very real, how situations in a production facility can go so quickly wrong, and how the consequences can be so devastating, not just to the company, but also to them.

DSEAR One Day Course
Our “One Day” DSEAR training course, focuses on the legal requirements of the legislation, as there are 17 regulations in DSEAR of which 7 require mandatory compliance.
However, the course to keep the course lively, it also incorporating some 18 chemistry experiments, and is designed to demonstrate the dangers associated with storing, handling and processing flammable liquids and hazardous substances to all responsible for health and safety, but more so, those that whilst responsible, may not actually be directly involved with that work, such as senior management and director level.
There are severe risks associated with the day to day handling of flammable materials of which very few are really aware.
However, the course to keep the course lively, it also incorporating some 18 chemistry experiments, and is designed to demonstrate the dangers associated with storing, handling and processing flammable liquids and hazardous substances to all responsible for health and safety, but more so, those that whilst responsible, may not actually be directly involved with that work, such as senior management and director level.

DSEAR 3 Day Course - Risk Assessment Training
Our “Three Day” DSEAR training course is aimed at those who may be responsible for conducting DSEAR risk assessments but are not necessarily fully confident to do so. They may both work in the flammable substance environment, as well as having responsibility to manage the area on a day to day basis.
Whilst similar to the structure of the one-day DSEAR course, the content depth and the number of topics covered is greatly increased. Dust is featured in more depth and additional sections on ATEX classifications and BS 60079-10 Ex Zone determination are also included, giving a greater understanding of ATEX and how it fits into the DSEAR equation when establishing Ex Zones.

DSEAR Five Day Course includes Gas Module
Our “Two Day” DSEAR Gas Training Module is available at those who wish to excel in the subject matter, once they have successfully completed the three-day assessor’s course. The course focuses on both the requirements of portable applications verses the benefits of fixed installations. How working in a production facility can be very different to that of a laboratory and how the differing gas groups can have a dramatic effect of the scale of risk.
No matter what type of gas is used, whether it is under pressure, a liquified gas or you are working with cryogenics, all elements under pressure, now require assessment under DSEAR in addition to the PSSR regulation.
Care and attention must also be given to the requirements of COMAH, when working with larger volume installations.

DSEAR Risk Assessments
Conducting a DSEAR Risk Assessments is legal requirement for any company having Flammable liquids and solids, oxidisers, explosives and dusts. There are a number of recognised ways of carrying out such DSEAR Risk Assessments, but it is having the ability to think "outside of the box", that can make the real difference. This is not always possible when you are too close to the situation or you do not have the ability to imagine what can go wrong, when there is very little experience of it actually happening. Fire Awareness Course
verything that an employee will need to know in order to not only protect themselves and their colleagues from a fire should one start in the workplace, it will also teach the ways that employees can be made aware of fire risk and implement fire prevention measures.
Often it is the incorrect selection of Fire Fighting media that helps to spread a fire instead of extinguishing it. Whilst employees should not be expected to tackle fires, employers must also remember that extinguishers are required and often used to assist in the “Means of Escape”.
Understanding what can happen in a fire when chemicals temperatures exceed their respective flashpoint, boiling point or indeed auto-ignition, is critical to personal safety. The RRFSO 2005, clearly details that where a company used dangerous substances, then often, normal fire safety precaution may NOT be Suitable or Sufficient

Fire Warden Training
Selected members of your staff should be delegated as Fire Wardens to ensure that you have sufficient trained staff who will lead in a fire situation should your buildings require a full or partial evacuation dependent of your fire plan. In addition to the elements covered in the Fire Awareness course − Fire Wardens will receive input on- Legislation, the Effects of Smoke, the Fire Wardens Role & Responsibilities, the Importance of roll call, the Information requirements of the Emergency services. It will also touch on elements such as Arson Prevention and on how Dangerous Substance Control Limited can assist business’s with team and individual competence in areas such as DSEAR, fire, health & safety, emergency response, and co-ordinated emergency response planning.

COMAH − Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations
COMAH Regulations 1999 and the 2005 amendments regulations, represents both a minefield of legislation and legal obligation for the operator. Bringing specific requirements to ensure compliance with the regulation.
As a COMAH site operator - defined by the use and storage of dangerous substances above specified quantities - you must as part of the compliance procedure ensure that you have to taken all necessary measures to :

Spill Training
The explosive dangers associated with spilling Flammable Materials can be are far greater than those associated with spilling general non-flammable materials, simply because of the increased release of flammable gases from the exposed surface area of the chemical.
Imagine a 5 litre petrol can with a 40mm diameter fill cap, the amount of flammable gas released that you can smell through this relatively small opening is quite low, now imagine this 5 litres poured onto the floor, the smell is now considerably higher and as the flammable liquid travels, more and more flammable gas is released into the atmosphere.

CompEx Installations & Annual Inspection
All Atex Equipment when installed, MUST be installed by a competent CompEx trained and Certified Electrician. Thereafter, all Atex equipment is subject to a visual, detailed and intrusive annual inspection programme over a 3 year periods.
Machine & Process Safety Inspections

Whilst similar to the structure of the one day certified course, the content depth and the number of topics covered is greatly increased. Dust is featured in more depth and additional sections on ATEX classifications and BS 60079-10 Ex Zone determination are also included, giving a greater understanding of ATEX and how it fits into the DSEAR equation when establishing Ex Zones. Explanations are provided on gas groups, subgroups, temperature ratings and so forth. Reference is also drawn to the theoretical understanding of flammable vapours with examples of how the Lower Explosive Limit can be converted into a meaningful quantity or volume of chemical per cubic metre of space. Delegates receive a full and detailed 160 page training manual to assist with their ongoing learning.
