Permanent Magnets

Permanent Magnets

Elesa permanent magnets offer a simple way of providing temporary fixing for workpieces, instruments, gauges, covers, doors, signs or drawers. They offer a range of closure from low to extremely high adhesive force in a very small footprint − giving easy manual placement or concealed closure if required. Temporary fixing with high power magnets can provide permanent solutions, quickly adjusted or removed completely.

For example, Elesa’s range of high quality permanent magnets in sintered hard ferrite, Aluminium nickel cobalt (AINiCo), Samarium cobalt (SmCo) and Neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) are structured to have one adhesive surface only with poles optimized and arranged in such a way that the whole magnetic energy is focused on the adhesive surface. The effect in the area of the magnetic field is limited by a shielded system, avoiding the magnetization of the surrounding objects.

Neodymium magnets are ideal for location and temporary fixing of workpieces or panels or for sensor holding, e.g. on conveyors or other machinery. Moving down the scale applications can be as varied as supermarket labelling, locating presentation materials, white boards, cabinet door closure or magnetic filtration, e.g. of metal particles in engine sumps or in machinery and equipment.

These high quality permanent magnets are available in flat format with or without, steel or stainless steel housings in lacquer or thermoplastic coating and in cylinder format with brass housed sandwich configuration. U Magnets and cylinder magnets in red lacquer with pass-through facility are also part of the standard series.
SAN Industrial Components

SAN Industrial Components

Elesa have recently been pleased to announce their new SAN range of lobe knobs, wing nuts, adjustable handles, knurled knobs and cylindrical fixed handles, with biocide active silver ions.

These new introductions reflect items commonly requested during the Covid pandemic and highlighted concerns, which have arisen in all areas of manually operated equipment.

This includes medical and hospital equipment, rehab and disability aids, machines in the pharmaceutical sector also urban and public fittings. Schools, public performance centres, leisure centres and similar are relevant areas where high pedestrian traffic levels lead to a high transfer of microbes, bacteria and fungi.

The silver ion inclusions work by breaking through the microbe cell wall where they interrupt the action of intracellular enzymes and attack the DNA of the nucleus to prevent cell replication.

Laboratory tests show that 98,9% of bacteria load is eliminated over a 24 hour period (ISO 22196: 2011). The controlled release mechanism of the silver ions ensures the antimicrobial characteristics are permanently maintained after numerous washing cycles, and even in sterilisation cycles up to 130°C.

The SAN range of standard industrial components in black or white is one of Elesa’s “High performing” lines. They are designed as smooth cavity free mouldings to enable thorough cleaning with normal washdown procedures.
High Performing Lines

High Performing Lines

ELESA "High performing items" represent a selection of handwheels, crank handles, knobs, levers, handles, indexing and spring plungers, hinges, levelling feet, castors and wheels and level indicators for applications in specific market sectors such as food processing, chemical, pharmaceutical, medical, ESD-Protected Area and in environments subject to explosion (ATEX). They are manufactured in the most advanced engineering plastics or special stainless steel class and great attention is paid to the design, ergonomics and surface finish.
Transfer Units

Transfer Units

Elesa have added three new products to their range of ball transfer units (otherwise known as roller tracks or conveyor balls). The UTB units in white acetal-based technopolymer with white polymer or stainless steel roller balls are joined by ESD conductive units and UTR roller transfer units for delicate surfaces.

Ball transfer units aid the movement of flat sheet materials - steel, wood, plastics and similar. They are used for material feed to workstations, movement on transfer lines between workstations or assembly lines, also for moving of components, assemblies and finished packages. They are installed in factories, warehouses, loading areas and receiving stations for onward movement, generally under gravity or manual feed. Normally they are installed with the ball upwards but can also be used inverted as very low-profile castors.

UTB series ball transfer units are suitable for applications on transfer and conveyor lines or end of production lines. They offer linear and rotational movement with maximum cleanliness as they do not require lubrication. The UTB technopolymer ball option lends itself to handling loads with delicate surfaces while the stainless steel ball version is for handling loads with sharp or angular surfaces. Furthermore, since these are corrosion-resistant, it is possible to wash them.

ESD conductive units have an electro-conductive technopolymer body with volume and surface resistivity. The main ball is in stainless steel with internal support and transfer balls also in stainless steel. The mix of these materials prevents the accumulation of electrostatic charges so that UTB-SST-ESD ball transfer units are suitable for applications in "ESD PROTECTED AREA" (EPA) areas.

Elesa UTR roller transfer units facilitate both linear and rotary movement with a soft technopolymer roller. This is suitable for handling loads with delicate surfaces, and may also be washed frequently.
Toggle & Fastening Clamps

Toggle & Fastening Clamps

New extended lever toggle clamps from Elesa provide a longer hold bar to hold items in position for working or fixing, allowing them to be secured across larger components. This extended lever allows the clamp arm to reach components in the middle of an assembly while giving clearance to view a template or positioning indices so that operators can work more easily around the clamped component.

These new clamps enable an even hold for welding on control jigs, moulds, templates and work pieces supporting across the whole item which saves time in production and enhances safety, providing a quick, temporary and secure location during secondary operations.

Elesa toggle clamps feature safety release handles in vertical or horizontal configuration for optimum operator convenience to suit the layout of individual work stations. This ensures rapid manual operation which is both fast and accurate, with preset safety (anti-release) lever to prevent accidental opening in the presence of strong vibrations, and to ensure that the operator's fingers cannot be hit by the lever while opening.

Extended lever toggle clamps are available with a flanged (folded) base plate or with a straight (insert) base to suit the orientation required.
Handles With Electrical Switch

Handles With Electrical Switch

New RH series tubular handles from Elesa offer a rugged and elegantly simple electrical cut-off for the safe opening of access panels on machine tools. This is achieved with an IP65 pushbutton interlock in a single or twin button configuration. FG16 variants feature electronic buttons while FG18 are pneumatic. On the electrical handles, an emergency stop button version is available, as well as a plain handle version to compliment for use elsewhere.

Elesa RH handles are designed in a bridge or pull-handle configuration and are suited to installation on cabinets, machine tools, moulding machines or other processing equipment in food or petrochemical plant.

Tubular handles in the RH series are available in stainless steel (FG-16), in aluminium and Technopolymer (FG-18) so they may be used in laboratory or electronic assembly applications where their safety, style and comfortable use are appreciated by users.

Operation of the safety interlock is achieved by the push buttons, which are connected to the machine control system via a solenoid which operates the safety cut-off (FG-16). The door latching mechanism is only then released when all the equipment has been brought to a safe condition.
Stainless Steel Hinges

Stainless Steel Hinges

New Elesa stainless steel hinges in AISI 304 grade join their existing ranges in both 304 and 316 grades, offering high strength for heavy doors as well as excellent corrosion resistance. They are especially suited to enclosure installations in arduous environments. This includes pharmaceutical labs, kitchens, hospitals, processing and packaging, also agriculture, marine, offshore, petrochemical plants, coastal/seaside and other outdoor applications where weathering is a major concern.

Various types of externally mounted flap-type hinges include the new CMM-TR-SST with optional flap configurations − also the new GN 7237 parallelogram style hinge series for internal fitment to enclosures and cabinets.

304 grade stainless steel contains chromium and nickel for good corrosion resistance while 316 grade (CMM-SST) has additional molybdenum for increased corrosion resistance in marine environments.
Electronic Digital Position Indicator

Electronic Digital Position Indicator

Machine change-over time in production is a key issue affecting the operation of packaging lines and can often present a critical bottleneck. The challenge for Elesa was to reduce the time taken for machine switchovers on packaging lines installed on site at their end users.

Explained Nigel Pritchett MD at Elesa (UK) “machine downtime for our customers and their end-users can become a major problem while they re-set each roller spindle manually. Fortunately, we have a solution readily available in the form of our unique wireless digital electronic positioning system.”

“These units are a like-for-like replacement for conventional items and the connected system allows up to 36 position indicators to be re-set all together from a PC link. This saves a great deal of time compared to re-setting each one individually for different packaging configurations.”

Elesa’s RF electronic positioning indicators are unique in the market, enabling wireless communication with a PLC. This results in faster, more efficient machine set-up and associated change over processes. The wireless system enables a quicker and more reliable machine set up - achieved by the use of a linked controller, which displays the initial set-up values on each of the electronic position indicators.

An operator can simply choose the appropriate menu, then quickly re-set each spindle to its correct start position and the machine is “good to go”. This saves large amounts of time and greatly reduces the possibility of human error every time the line is changed or recalibrated.

This flexibility enables the Elesa system to be adapted as a mainstream option on all such machines and ensures it may be retrofitted to existing installations when upgrading a complete facility.
Tube Connectors

Tube Connectors

Elesa’s new additions to their connecting clamp range include units with base, pivoting clamp bases and pivoting connection clamps, to match existing types already available. This range of pipe connecting clamps for round and square tubes is suitable for suspended pipe installations, pipe frames and mounting structures.

They include many in Technopolymer, Aluminium and Stainless steel and accommodate sizes from 10mm up to 50mm dia round section and 20x20mm to 50x50mm square in production or industrial settings. Typical uses include semi-permanent frameworks, handrails, lighting rigs, mounting of instrumentation/sensors/ cameras etc. in construction and manufacturing environments.

The Elesa range of connecting clamps for tubes is available as cross clamps, fixing bases, T terminals, and swivel clamps. They feature clamps made from aluminium and stainless steel which are ideal for environments where corrosion-resistant materials are required. Specially-designed stainless steel screws with hex headed screw closure or flush screw and hex nut are used to prevent the accumulation of moisture with polymer and silicone-sealing washers to make the clamps waterproof.

The range also includes − two-way connecting clamps with/without base, bases for mounting on floors or platforms, offset bases and large area bases for load spreading. T-shaped connecting clamps, right-angled clamps, supports for round or square tube, straight connectors, pivoting clamps and bases, plus sensor holders.

The clamps themselves are accompanied by a range of tubes with round and square sections in high-strength, load-bearing stainless steel and flexible, cost-effective, aluminium suitable for lightweight constructions. Together with clamps and tubes, the Elesa selection includes monitor mounts, threaded hole end-caps for tubes, and a clamping kit as an alternative to normal clamping screws.
SFX Anti-Splash Breather Caps

SFX Anti-Splash Breather Caps

Elesa now offers a variety of different breather cap solutions to sealing hydraulic tank fillers while enabling air interchange as fluid is drawn from or returned to the hydraulic reservoir. These new caps enable pressure equalisation between the inside and outside of the tank while at the same time using proprietary labyrinth geometry of semi-discs as a major barrier to spillage. This is especially applicable when the equipment is used at variable angles with violent changes of orientation − e.g., for mobile equipment such as earthmoving-plant, or simply for machines in transit.

Two new designs are now offered by Elesa each with their own choices of configuration which includes an innovative clip-on external linear labyrinth as an additional anti-spill device and a dipstick for level checking.

The SFX is a new breather cap design with internal splash guard geometry which can also incorporate a "tech-foam" air filter in polyurethane foam mesh to protect the reservoir from external particles.

The additional anti-splash device consists of a snap-on set of semi-discs that fits at the mouth of the cap, and are made up of fins offset from each other designed to create an extra labyrinth to protect in the most critical cases of strong fluid agitation.

SFX+a also features the new splash guard options with anti-splash clip-on labyrinth now with the option of a flat dipstick in phosphatised steel. On request and for sufficient quantities dipsticks can be supplied in different lengths and/or complete with MAX-MIN level line.

Other special options include − a neutral cap without symbols and a cap in RAL 3000 red colour - also the threaded fixing is available with American conical gas threading NPT - ANSI-ASME B1-20.
Industrial Magnets

Industrial Magnets

Elesa's industrial magnet range now includes new sizes in round and rectangular flat designs − also application-specific cable fixing magnets. These join the existing range of standard magnets in different styles, sizes, pull forces, and materials for all types of permanent positioning and clamping needs. Typically, they are used for closure of doors, holding of workpieces, location of jigs or simply for temporary paperwork.

The range includes: flat retaining magnets with steel containment body, galvanized or colour lacquered; with a sandwich configuration of the poles, in a brass or steel containment body. This configuration delivers maximum permanent power, even with the smallest workpieces.

Different construction materials (ferrite, aluminium nickel cobalt, samarium cobalt, neodymium iron boron) offer a choice of specific attraction strength, resistance to temperatures (e.g. up to 80°C and 200°C.) also resistance to corrosion, workability and the possibility of demagnetization.

Elesa flat magnets are generally fixed in place with glue or grub screws. Other types include cylindrical magnets, unshielded magnets, also horseshoe and profile magnets together with accessories such as setting bolts, grub screws and steel discs with or without adhesive tape. So, whatever the application, it looks like Elesa has a magnetic solution.
