Engineered Composites stocks a wide range of GRP profiles. Our technically advanced GRP formulation delivers excellent corrosion resistance and durability to provide a cost effective, alternative to steel, aluminium and timber. Suitable for walkways, platforms, ladders and handrails, lightweight GRP is easy to install and does not require heavy lifting equipment.
Manufactured from glass reinforced isophthalic polyester resin with E glass fibre, a continuous strand mat and a polyester surface veil as the surface layer.

GRP Standard Handrails

GRP Standard Handrails

We stock a standard, fibre glass handrail system that offers incredible durability and is easy to fabricate and install. Robust and sturdy, our standard handrails outperform metallic and timber alternatives due to GRP’s high strength-to-weight ratio and low installation and maintenance costs.
Our standard handrail system consists of four profiles which are available in 6 metre lengths. The handrail is easy to make by drilling a 38mm hole into the box sections for the tube to be inserted for the knee rail. The handrail profile sits on top and the toe rail at the base. The handrail system meets all the requirements of BS4592:0 2006+A1 2012 Industrial Flooring, Stairs and Handrails for Heavy Duty (0.74kN/m).

GRP Interlocking Floors

GRP Interlocking Floors

DECK500, an interlocking anti-slip flooring system constructed from GRP, is used to create mezzanine floors, walkways and pedestrian bridge decks. Additionally, DECK500 is used in the water industry as effective odour control covers or to prevent water penetration in potable and waste water treatment plants.
DECK500 is a one-piece pultruded profile, 500mm over width, with a tongue and groove joint along the length of the plank to give a firm, sealable joint between the lengths of profile.
GRP/FRP Rebar

GRP/FRP Rebar

FRP reinforcement bar is made from high strength glass fibre reinforced with vinyl ester resin. The core of the rebar has all the reinforcing fibre (70% by weight ) along the length of the bar for maximum strength. A helical recess in the surface of the rebar is created in the production process which does not damage the core fibre and is sufficiently deep to give a key to enable the concrete to have a mechanical grip on the rebar.

Our GRP grating, anti-slip and flooring systems comply with relevant UK and Europe standards. All our GRP grating, anti-slip systems and flooring are fire retardant to ASTM E 84. We also adhere to the BS EN ISO141222 Permanent Means of Access to Industrial Equipment and BS 4592 Industrial Flooring, Walkways and Stair Treads regulations.
