Bespoke Cast Iron Staircase with Oak Handrail, London

A unique and very high quality cast iron staircase for a very high quality wine retailer located in the heart of London’s Mayfair, Hedonism is a new fine wine and spirits boutique.

Located in the heart of London’s Mayfair, Hedonism is a new fine wine and spirits boutique, which has already become the most talked about wine project of recent times. Fine Iron were commissioned to design, develop and manufacture a statement staircase to complement the unique surroundings of this high end wine establishment.

The brief presented a real challenge in both aesthetics and engineering. As always the level of accuracy required in plotting out every tread and riser was critical given that the patterns had to incorporate an allowance for shrinkage during the casting process of the treads and risers. Working to a tolerance of + − one millimetre for the finished castings was the maximum that could be allowed, as once the patterns are made the job would be not literally cast in stone but it certainly would be cast in iron!

Metal Porch, Veranda & Canopy Designs

A porch will usually consist of two corner uprights, a frieze panel on the front and two side frieze panels. A veranda will usually consist of the same together with intermediate uprights and additional front frieze panels to allow for greater widths (and depths, if required). It is also possible to create corner porches and verandas.

Serpentine Staircase Balustrade in Drop Forged Wrought Iron

This stair balustrade has been crafted from wrought iron, cast iron and mild steel capped with an oak handrail.
The ironwork has been painted and fixed into the marble treads and the junctions between treads and balusters have been finished with cast iron covers.

Fine Iron Ltd is a small family business based in the heart of Wales, providing a variety of services across the UK and beyond. We can trace our Blacksmithing ancestry back as far as 1587 - a heritage that we are proud of and gives us an instinctive understanding of our craft.

Our passion is architectural ironwork and we have a select team of skilled craftsmen who use traditional and modern methods and materials to create our hand made-to-order Ironwork. We are also skilled in finishing techniques and use the latest quality paint systems and finishing methods including patination and metallisation.

Founded in 1998 the Fine Iron team has had the pleasure of working alongside a number of prestigious organisations such as CADW, English Heritage and the National Trust, working on some of the country’s most famous landmarks including The Jewel House of the Tower of London, The Albert Memorial, The Theatre Royal, Kensington Palace, The University of Hertfordshire, The Waldorf Hotel, Great Yarmouth Regeneration Scheme, Birmingham University and Cardiff Crown Court. More recently we have had the enjoyment and satisfaction of working with Dior, Ralph Lauren, The Duck and Rice and Hedonism Wines. We have also worked with several housing developers (including Spitfire Homes, Wimpey etc) and are comfortable catering for both large scale projects as well as smaller individual projects.
