Custom Lighting

Custom Lighting

Once into the manufacture stage, your custom lighting will be closely monitored and inspected during all processes. In our finishing department, we are able to apply various finishes, including painting to BS and RAL standards, as well as many in-house finishes which are unique to Great British Lighting.
All of our fittings are wired to current CE standards and we keep up-to-date with the ever-changing regulations. We are also approved to wire to UL (USA), CE (Europe) and JLA (Far East) regulations. After final inspection and sign off, your fittings will be in the hands of our despatch department, who will take great care and attention to ensure that they are wrapped and packed expertly to make sure that they arrive in pristine condition. We offer this service across London and Great Britain.
Lighting Restoration

Lighting Restoration

Our lighting restoration service is particularly useful where light fittings may be protected under listed building legislation.
The skilled craftsmen that make up the Great British Lighting team are able to work with an unlimited range of materials, including aluminium, brass, copper, wrought iron, stainless steel, timber and glass, to ensure that lighting fixtures are restored and replaced with like-for-like materials.
We also work with a consortium of other skilled, traditional craftsmen who provide complementary services and expertise. These include specialist pattern makers, glassmakers and blowers, all of whom can be a vital resource in the exact restoration of your lighting piece.
Cleaning & Restoration

Cleaning & Restoration

Our manufacturing capabilities and skills mean we can offer excellent metal cleaning and restoration services, though occasionally just re-polishing is all that is required. It is the skill of replacing missing or damaged items that set us apart. We will cast new parts using our specialist tools and patterns to create replacement components. The parts will exactly match the original piece so that you will not be able to tell that it has been repaired or refurbished. We have, over a number of years, returned many lighting fixtures and other metal items to their original glory.
Doors & Furniture

Doors & Furniture

Door furniture from Great British Lighting benefits from a long heritage in the manufacture of bespoke decorative metalwork by our skilled craftsmen. Door furniture, or door hardware, refers to anything that is attached to a door or a drawer to enhance its functionality or appearance. This may include hinges, handles, locks, fasteners and any other accessories. Door furniture is usually requested on older buildings to replace or restore a door to its former glory. When this is the case, we consult our archive to perfectly reproduce the style of the period.
Historical Reproduction

Historical Reproduction

We work in a wide range of materials to reproduce historical lighting fixtures, including aluminium, brass, copper, wrought iron, stainless steel, timber and glass. With such a range of flexible skills, we have consequently been able to apply our expertise to many historical ‘non-lighting’ ‘commissions, such as ecclesiastical and architectural metalwork, door furniture, leaded lights and stained glass windows.
Whilst we are rightly proud of our historical reproduction and manufacturing traditions, in the design and pre-production process it is technology that lies at the heart of our business. Sophisticated Computer Aided Design (CAD) allows us to provide clients with accurate visual representations of their creations, simplifying the approvals process, removing the need for costly prototypes and accelerating the lead-time from concept development to final production.
Traditional Craft, Modern Approach

Traditional Craft, Modern Approach

Our approach to historical lighting reproduction and manufacturing combines a range of traditional craft skills and a modern production environment, creating total flexibility in our operation and enabling us to handle small batch and one-off production, in addition to larger volumes. Great British Lighting has a dedicated and knowledgeable team that can research, design, develop, advise and inspire. Our sales and technical staff will work with you to ease the often conflicting challenges of architecture, style, reliability, lead times and budgets, ensuring that your reproduction lighting is historically accurate and delivered to specification. Great British Lighting are proud to provide apprenticeships and training for our own staff, and work closely with other like-minded artisans and craftsmen to support small and specialist foundries, pattern makers, glassmakers and blowers. This enables us to deliver the finest quality historical lighting reproductions in the world.
Handrails, Staircases & Railings

Handrails, Staircases & Railings

If you need a stylish handrail, staircase, railings, balustrades or any other fabricated metalwork to complete your building project, Great British Lighting are available to discuss your requirements.
Our design team can consult our traditional archive or create a new CAD drawing to meet your specification, before our skilled craftsmen create your bespoke, fabricated metalwork products.
Decorative Metalwork

Decorative Metalwork

Our skill is not the standard cutting and welding of many other metal fabrication companies; rather we produce high quality decorative metalwork using materials including aluminium, stainless steel, brass and wrought iron, with many different finishes. We can use paint or powder coating, if required, to produce interior and exterior feature ornamental metalwork that will endure in even the most demanding environments. Items including but not limited to: furniture, kitchen racking, shelving, table legs and bases, gates, bars and stools are all within our capabilities.
