Solid Shaft - Absolute Encoders
Solid Shaft - Absolute Encoders are sensing devices that create information allowing a unique code pattern to be assigned to each angle increment when rotated. This information records the position, angle and rotation. The code pattern number then determines the resolution. Each of these code patterns form an exclusive reference and an absolute position, meaning a reference run is not needed.
We stock two types of absolute encoders with solid shafts:
Italsensor TKC50 Absolute Single Turn Shaft Encoder- has a shaft rotational speed of 10.000 RPM to short cycle time; 6.000 RPM continuous. The shaft is made of stainless steel with a non-corroding aluminium flange and housing made from aluminium painted with inhibiting treatment 180° C. Specifications for shaft loading are axial: 200 N; radial 200 N. The rotational speed of the shaft is 10.000 RPM to short cycle time; 6.000 RPM continuous. It weighs 0.52 kg with a bearings life of 5 x 109 rev. min.
TKE45 Single Turn Absolute Encoder − as above, except its weight is 0.5 kg. Both encoders have Electrical Specifications giving STD codes: GRAY - BINARY − BCD, (although the TKE45 is analogue) an output frequency from 0 to up 20 kHz (L.S.B. without error) and protection against inversion of polarity (except 5Vcc).

Blind Shaft - Incremental Encoder
An incremental encoder is used in order to provide data about speed, as well as distance. It’s a popular choice for industrial applications due to its efficiency and accuracy. With this type of device, minimal sensors are used, which means simplicity and, usually, economy.
However, this type of speed and distance-measuring device does have one limitation. It will need to be equipped with a reference device which measures motion. These encoders function by generating an array of pulses while they are moving. As they move, they relay relative value data.
Absolute encoders are a little different. The provide output which details current positions of shafts, which puts them into the angle transducer category. This type of encoder comes with a separate digital output for every shaft position and this means that position data is accurate, even when power is interrupted. L brackets are used for base mounting. Our brackets are for use with the TK50 series encoder.

Coupling Components
Couplings are components that connect shafts together so that motion can be transferred from one to the other. They are used to transmit torque between the shaft of the tachogenerator and the machine to which it is coupled.
We stock many different types and they can be broadly grouped into rigid and flexible shaft couplings. Rigid couplings are good for transmitting power where there is no misalignment between shafts. Flexible shaft couplings are required when there is a degree of misalignment or end movement or both.
