Mechanical Plant − BS4142
Our acoustic consultants undertake BS4142 acoustic surveys. This involves liaison with the local authority (council), involves noise monitoring, often for periods in excess of 24-hours, so as to capture background sound levels. Our detailed reports, detail mechanical plant maximum noise levels, calculate sound level transmission from source to nearby noise sensitive receptors and where appropriate provide noise mitigation measures. Sound Insulation Testing
We test in accordance with BS EN ISO 140 and the Building Regulations Approved Document E − ‘Resistance to the Passage of Sound’.
HA Acoustics offer both pre-completion testing and sound insulation testing, enabling your construction project to meet national sound insulation standards. We test the internal acoustic performance of separating floors and walls. Our sound insulation test reports are laid out in a standard, easy to read format, ensuring your Local Authority (council) or private building control officer with all necessary information.
Noise Limiter Calibration
Noise limiters for amplified entertainment systems play an important role when a venue is located within close proximity to noise sensitive properties; which is often the case. Correctly installed and set, the electronic noise limiter will automatically control and limit the maximum level of music played within the premises. This allows the venue to easily operate without causing undue noise disturbance which would otherwise prove difficult.
Noise Management Plans & Section 61 Agreements
At HA Acoustics we prepare a legally binding Section 61 Agreement for construction sites. This helps to ensure that the best practice of development is undertaken. It protects residents from noise, and vibration and protects developers from restrictive Section 60 notices being served by the Local Authority.
The Control of Pollution Act 1974, Section 61 is commonly referred to when discussing construction or demolition related noise and vibration pollution impact on the environment. A Section 61 application is made by a construction or demolition firm to the local authority, at HA Acoustics we can make this application, on a companies behalf. A Section 61 it is an application for consent to carry out works, which are likely to have a significant impact on the neighbourhood due to its generation of noise and vibration. A section 61 application outlines the works that are planned to take place, the proposed working hours of the site and a plan to mitigate potential noise and vibration impact by best practical means.
