Longline Heating Cables

Longline Heating Cables

For very long pipelines, the use of parallel heating technology becomes very costly due to the very large electrical distribution system that would be required.

However, an advantage is that long circuit lengths are possible using our Longline range of heater cables. Typically 3-phase Longline heating cables require electric supply points only at multi-kilometre intervals. Due to this, the number of power points required is dramatically reduced and can offer signifcant CAPEX savings.

We can produce series resistance heating cables within the following ranges:

Up to 6600 Volts 3 phase
Up to 230°C (446°F) withstand temperature
Up to 50 W/m of output
Longline Round (LLR)

Longline Round (LLR)

Longline Round (LLR) heating cables are high performance Series Resistance heaters for long pipelines where temperature maintenance or freeze protection is needed. They are used where circuit lengths exceed the capabilities of parallel resistance self-regulating or constant power heaters in order to minimise the number of electrical supply points. Circuit lengths of multi-kilometre are possible from a single supply point.

Longline Round (LLR) provides constant power per unit length without voltage drop along the length. Hence round heating cable may be provided for single or 3phase connection.

The continuous metal jacket allows for increased mechanical strength, reducing the risk of damage and providing superior fire-resisting properties compared with most heating cables.
Longline Round (LLR-HV)

Longline Round (LLR-HV)

Longline Round (LLR-HV) heating cables are high performance Series Resistance heaters for long pipelines where temperature maintenance or freeze protection is needed. They are used where circuit lengths exceed the capabilities of parallel resistance self-regulating or constant power heaters in order to minimise the number of electrical supply points. Circuit lengths of multi-kilometre are possible from a single supply point.

Longline Round (LLR-HV) provides constant power per unit length without voltage drop along the length. Hence round heating cable may be provided for single or 3phase connection.

The continuous metal jacket allows for increased mechanical strength, reducing the risk of damage and providing superior fire-resisting properties compared with most heating cables.
Mineral Insulated (MI) Cables

Mineral Insulated (MI) Cables

Mineral Insulated Cable is known as the most durable electric heat trace cable that are available. It is the ideal choice when an application’s temperature and power output requirements exceed the capabilities of our range of self-regulating and constant wattage cables.

MI heating cable can be used for applications with the following requirements:
Single and dual core series heating resistance cable, magnesium oxide insulated

The length and resistance of the cores determine the output of the cable
Constant power output not affected by temperature variations
Maximum working voltage up to 600 V - Please contact Heat Trace for higher voltage applications.

Output power up to 300 W/m
Highest maintain temperature up to 800 °C
Maximum exposure temperature up to 800 °C
Mineral Insulated Cable (MAL)

Mineral Insulated Cable (MAL)

The MAL range of alloy 825 sheathed Mineral Insulated (MI) heating cable has been developed to meet the specific need for a cable having a high temperature capability and electrical resistance values needed for long circuit lengths. To meet the requirement, Heat Trace has combined an alloy 825 sheath with heating conductors to enable an operating temperature of 800ºC with resistance values from 2.1Ω/km up to 36100Ω/km per conductor. MI cables have excellent mechanical strength and are intrinsically very resistant to corrosion. They are series resistance heaters which must be designed to provide the required heat output.
Mineral Insulated Cable (MCU/MHC)

Mineral Insulated Cable (MCU/MHC)

The MCU range of copper sheathed Mineral Insulated (MI) heating cable has been developed to meet the specific need for a cable having a high temperature cabability and electrical resistance values needed for long circuit lengths. To meet the requirement, Heat Trace combined a copper sheath with heating conductors to enable an operating temperature of 250ºC with resistance values from 1.7Ω/km up to 2000Ω/km per conductor. However, an HDPE outer sheath must be used when the cable is used in special situations, such as corrosion resistance or burying or snow melting application. HDPE jacketed copper-sheathed heating cables (MHC) have an operating temperature of 90ºC. MI cables have excellent strength and are resistant to corrosion. They are series resistance heaters which must be designed to provide the required heat output.

Longline Heating Cables
For extensive pipelines, parallel heating technology can be expensive due to the extensive electrical distribution systems needed. However, our Longline range of heater cables allows for long circuit lengths, typically requiring electric supply points only at multi-kilometre intervals for 3-phase cables. This significantly reduces the number of power points needed, resulting in considerable CAPEX savings.

Mineral Insulated (MI) Cables
Mineral Insulated Cable is recognised as the most durable electric heat trace cable available. It is the best option when the temperature and power output requirements of an application surpass what our self-regulating and constant wattage cables can provide.

… And more.

When Neil Malone founded Heat Trace in 1974, electric heat tracing was still in its early stages. Over the past four decades, it has evolved into a substantial industry built on quality principles.

During this period, Heat Trace Limited has been a leader in the heat tracing industry, actively contributing to the development of standards, starting with BS6351 - Electric Surface Heating, the first British standard published in 1982, and continuing with IEC60079/30 − a harmonised World Standard introduced in 2001.

From the beginning, Heat Trace created products and systems that not only complied with new standards but also aligned with the company’s goals of enhancement.
