Highblade manufacture a huge range of data cables for applications including computing, data communications, EPOS equipment, machine control, testing, video transmission and a host of specialised applications.

All commonly used interfaces for data communications are catered for including the ever popular RS232 (V24), Centronics and SCSI range for computer applications. A significant part of our production is concerned with cables for more specialised interfaces such as RS422, RS485, V35, V36 and X21.

We are also able to manufacture coiled cable sets for equipment such as handheld barcode scanners, light pens, control units, test equipment and audio applications.

All of our products are individually tested and inspected before despatch. Our state of the art test equipment will automatically detect incorrect wiring, shorts, crossed pairs, diode reversals and resistance anomalies. Test result data can be provided if required.

Our production staff are skilled in all soldering techniques and we have the facility to fit most types of crimp contacts and terminals.

To aid compliance with the EMC Regulations, Highblade Cables are able to offer state of the art shielding and suppression techniques to prevent radiation from interconnection cables.

Coaxial cable assemblies catering for data, RF and video applications can be supplied to your specifications. The range of coaxial connector in use is enormous, but the more common types include the BNC, TNC, SMA, SMB, SMC, F-type, N-type, and BT43 ranges.

A host of adaptor units can be supplied for interconnection between these various ranges.

All commonly used coaxial cable types are available covering 50 ohm, 75 ohm and 93 ohm impedence ranges, plus specials including Heliax® types for low-loss RF use.

All types of coaxial cables can be supplied to your specified standard lengths, or as specials to suit particular installations. We can also provide packaged coaxial data pairs (Tx and Rx) labelled accordingly.

As with all our products full testing is carried out before despatch. Test data or measurements can be provided if required.

Optical fibre backbones and links have now become an essential part of WANs and larger LANs and in data communications. The benefits of fibre optics including immunity from EMI/RFI, high data rates and the ability to transmit data of large distances have been known for decades, but it is comparatively recently that the system has been adopted widely for networking applications.

Highblade offer a complete manufacturing service for all forms of fibre optic cable, either as ready made assemblies/patch leads, or as a site installation. As with our other cable assembly services we can supply custom products to your specifications in either large or small volume. We are able to terminate all forms of optical fibre cabling with the connectors of your choice including FDDI and ATM high speed network and video applications.

To back up our cabling service we can provide a wide range of accessories including patch panels, couplers, adaptors, transceivers, wall outlets and termination cabinets.

Highblade's custom cable service extends to the design and manufacture of coiled extensible leads.

Coiled leads are used extensively for handheld devices such as barcode scanners as well as keyboards, telecommunications applications and industrial equipment.

By the nature of their use coiled cables must withstand constant flexing and movement. Reliability in service is achieved by careful design and by using conductors with a high number of fine strands. Where feasible, tinsel type conductors are used to increase flexibility.

Cable screening can be achieved by a number of methods. Helically lapped copper wires (spiral screening) is used where high flexibility is required. Greater screening efficiency can be obtained by using woven copper braiding, or aluminium coated polyester tape with drain wire.

A variety of jacket materials in a number of colours are available including PVC, Polyurethane and Polyethylene as well as elastomer materials which have the look and feel of rubber.

A quick, reliable and therefore cost effective solution to many cabling problems, the familiar ribbon cable assembly finds applications throughout the Electronic Industry. Commonly used for connections to PCBs and for links either within equipment, or externally, ribbon cables offer advantages of compactness and manageability.

All of the standard PC interfaces are catered for including the many versions of SCSI, but we also manufacture custom cables for equipment as diverse as image enhancers, underwater cameras and gas analysers.
In addition to our standard grey ribbon cabling we can provide colour coded (rainbow) ribbon in laminated or edge boded form and specials such as twisted pair (twist-n-flat), round jacketed (round-n-flat) and screened ribbon cables.

The range of connectors available to us is ever increasing, but includes standard IDC sockets, D-types, half-pitch D-types, Centronics, Half-pitch Centronics, plus PCB Dual Inline, card-edge and transition connectors.

Highblade are able to undertake the design and construction of PCBs or even complete units to meet your specifications. We have many years experience in the production of equipment such as interface devices for EPOS systems, counters, PSUs, LAN testers, upgrades for printers, adaptor units, protocol converters and many other devices.

PCBs can be manufactured as prototypes, or mass produced in single sided, double sided, or multi-layer form and with or without solder resist or legends. We would also be pleased to populate your own PCBs either with free-issue or fully procured components.
The presentation of an electronic device can be just as important as its functionality. With this in mind we are able to design and produce custom cases and panels complete with printed legends and logos. You have the choice of fabricated metal, diecast, moulded plastic, or fabricated plastic construction. Plastic cases can be given an internal conductive nickel coating for screening purposes.

We can also produce a variety of panels in plastics or metals; folded, punched and drilled; coated/painted and inscribed.

Highblade Cables can supply all forms of networking hardware and patching cables and undertake site installations. We are Authorised Installers for Molex Premise Networks and several other systems. All installations are completed in accordance with ISO 11801 Generic Cabling for Customer Premises and ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-A Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling Standard. Full documentation and test data can be provided.

We can supply a large range of accessories and hardware including patch panels, outlets, cabling, connectors, switches, media converters etc. Our RJ45 patch leads can be produced to order in a variety of colours and lengths of your choice at competitive prices. Highblade Cables supplies and manufactures a large range of 240V AC power cords. As well as the usual UK-style 13A plugs and IEC connectors we can produce power cables fitted with many other connector styles.

All of our power cables are individually inspected and tested at high voltage.

Highblade Cables is a supplier of high quality data cabinets, wall boxes, server racks and accessories. We specialise in 19-inch rack mount enclosures, but can also supply ETSI and other metric sizes.

Our Floor Cabinets are available in all standard sizes, including 18U, 27U, 32U, 39U, 42U, 45U and 47U formats. Each size is available as a 600mm or 800mm wide and 600mm, 800mm, 1000mm or 1200mm deep. Non-standard sizes can be supplied too.

All our cabinets are powder coated in grey (BS00A05), dark grey (BS00A013) or black. Other colours are available on request.

Highblade Cables provide a manufacturing service for custom sheet metal fabrications. These include punched and formed enclosures, panels and chassis units. As well as CNC punched products we can also provide laser cut components.

We offer a large choice of materials including mild steel, Zintec and various grades of stainless steel. These products can be supplied with a variety of finishes including powder coating.

As a back up to our manufacturing service we offer on site installation of cables, cable management systems and equipment racking.

This service does not stop at structured wiring systems; we also undertake installation of fibre optic cabling, data communications cables such as X21 and RS232, plus coaxial cables for data, RF and video transmission.

Site installation work is usually charged on a quotation basis. We are happy to visit your premises to discuss your requirements and to give impartial advice as required.
