Resin Bonded

Resin Bonded

HMS Resin Bonded surfacing is a non permeable decorative finish.

It is a process consisting of specially selected natural aggregates bonded with high performance resins to produce a long lasting smooth, hard-wearing decorative finish. It is suitable for use on driveways, paths, courtyards, walkways, parks and other areas of hard standing.

Due to the nature of HMS Resin Bonded Decra Stone, it will not move or migrate stones or loose chippings, making it especially favourable for driveways and trafficked areas.

A wide range of aggregates are available, allowing you to confidently select the one appropriate to your requirements.

Resin Bound

Resin Bound

HMS Resin Bound Paving is a permeable, SUDS compliant surface system.

It is a decorative surfacing process consisting of specially selected natural, coloured or recycled aggregates bound with high performance UV stable resins to produce a long lasting smooth hard-wearing decorative finish.

Perfect for use on driveways, paths, courtyards, walkways, parkways and roads. A wide range of aggregates are available, allowing you to confidently select the one appropriate to your requirements. Resin Bound permeable decorative surfacing treatment stands apart from other domestic and commercial surface treatments thanks to its water permeable quality. The materials and finishes used are in accordance with the government outlined Sustainable Urban Drainage System, or SUDS, meaning that excess and surface water can naturally drain through the product.

High Friction Surfacing

High Friction Surfacing

High Friction Surfacing, more commonly known as ‘Anti-skid’ surfacing, is an epoxy resin process dressed with high PSV calcined bauxite aggregate.

HMS®High Friction Surfacing is available in either HAPAS/BBA Approved Type 1 Hot or Cold lay, and installed by HAPAS & BBA Approved installers.

Today, Hot Applied and Cold Applied are the two generic processes of High Friction Surfacing available and ‘Type 1’ accreditation is the highest quality standard, under the BBA (British Board of Agrément) certification scheme. HMS is accredited as a ‘BBA Approved Installer’ (Installer Number 5020).

Only ‘Type 1’ high friction surfacing processes are permitted on motorway and trunk roads. Both the product and the installer must be individually accredited for the installed high friction surfacing to conform to Clause 924 of the Specification For Highway Works.

Coloured Surfacing

Coloured Surfacing

Coloured Surfacing systems are applied in all traffic and pedestrian areas where colour and demarcation is the key.

‘Coloured Surfacing’ using High Friction standard components should be used predominantly where the highest PSV is the primary design consideration and the colour is secondary. An example of this is the use of Red High Friction Surfacing on the approach to a Pelican or Zebra Crossing.

‘Coloured High Friction Surfacing’ is available from HMS® Decorative Surfacing Ltd with accreditation for any class of highway in the UK under the BBA (British Board of Agrément) standard and HMS® Decorative Surfacing Ltd is a BBA ‘Approved Installer’ (Installer Number 5020). The performance of any coloured surfacing product is enhanced when a coloured resin binder is used.

Imprinted Surfacing

Imprinted Surfacing

HMS® Imprinted Surfacing is a hot applied resin based compound. It is a modern alternative to Blocks, Slabs, and Cobbles.

It is comprised of a synthetic (non-bituminous) asphalt based compound, incorporating granite aggregate and graded rubber granules. This compound is also reinforced with metal and glass fibres.

Imprinted Surfacing is suitable for use on driveways, parkways and roads. It is suited to village gateways, heritage areas and for urban regeneration schemes. It comes in a wide range of colours and can replicate many patterns including block paving, cobbles granite sets and paving slabs.

Imprinted Surfacing from HMS® offers a modern and highly efficient alternative to traditional block paving and concrete Imprinted Surfacing. HMS® Resin based compound Imprinted will not suffer colour loss over time like some concrete products, and will not lift and move as with block paving. This makes it a popular choice for driveways and highly trafficked areas, especially in urban environments, as it offers an attractive finish combined with effective traffic claming.

Installation and surface preparation of Imprinted Surfacing is minimal in comparison to traditional methods, highly reducing traffic disruption.

Safelane®

Safelane®

Safelane® from Safecote, installed by HMS Decorative Surfacing Limited as the leading UK Installer, is a specialist surface overlay system comprising of 1-3mm or 6-10mm aggregate and is applied using an epoxy resin.

The aggregate used in the overlay surface acts like a sponge, allowing de-icing chemicals to sink deep into the pores of the Safelane aggregate and is subsequently released slowly when the temperature drops to freezing point. Safelane also benefits from some of the same properties as other high friction surface treatments, deeming it suitable for areas requiring anti-skid surfacing.

This effectively means the surface would be protected from freezing over before gritters or salt application is required. Safelane surface overlay treatment has the ability to reduce the formation of frost and snow while protecting the base from corrosion and deterioration by ingress of chlorides and moisture. Safelane from Safecote is recommended for use on footbridges, cycle-ways, public transport boarding areas, loading bays, railway platforms, and approaches to toll barriers.

VA5 Catalyst

VA5 Catalyst

Catalyst to be used as part of the Resin Bound Decra®Set UVR binder system for resin bound paving.

Catalyst VA5 is a clear liquid component that has been developed to adapt the curing times of the Resin Bound Decra®Set UVR resin bound system. A small amount of Catalyst VA5 can be added to each batch of Decra®Set UVR to speed up the curing process. On warm summer days where ambient temperatures are relatively high, little or no catalyst is necessary because the warmth of the materials and substrate will, in themselves, accelerate the cure speed. However, on cold winter days where the ambient temperature will not assist the cure in itself, more catalyst will need to be added to the mix in order to bring the cure time down to a matter of hours.
