Evacuation & Rescue Ski Sheet

Evacuation & Rescue Ski Sheet

The Ski Sheet was the original evacuation device specifically designed for use in hospitals and other care facilities. The evacuation ski sheet enables care staff to quickly and safely move non-ambulant individuals to a place of safety in an emergency, while securely cocooned within their mattress.

The sheet is easily fitted to the underside of the users mattress, using the four elastic corner strap. Here it remains in place at all times, where it is instantly accessible when needed. The straps of the Ski Sheet are stored in discreet pockets on the underside of the sheet.

In an emergency the straps are simply removed from their storage pockets and secured over the individual. The user can then be slid off the bed using the head/foot end handles and taken to a place of safety.
Versa Evacuation Chair

Versa Evacuation Chair

The Versa Evacuation Chair enables individuals with limited mobility to be moved safely down flights of stairs in the event of a lift failure, fire or similar emergency.

Part of the exitmaster chair range, the Versa offers instant deployment on four wheels and single operator load and go technology. Evacuation using the Versa can be carried out quickly and safely by one operator.

The four wheel design enables the chair to travel smoothly on flat surfaces. A cleverly positioned twin stair blade track system offers grip and control on the stairs, making it easy to use with its ‘stoop-free’ and ‘free walk’ design.

The comfortable and supportive seat, in a level position and safety brakes on the rear wheels enables the chair to be easily loaded.

Other features include a unique top step safety plate, instant telescopic handle, comfort back, foot and headrest, user restraint, wall mounting bracket and dust cover.
Bariatric EvacMat

Bariatric EvacMat

The Bariatric EvacMat provides a safe solution to the movement of plus size/bariatric individuals from locations such as care homes and hospital wards in the event of an emergency.

The unique design of the Bariatric Evacmat securely cocoons the individual and holds their body weight in place, to help overcome problems associated with body mass stabilisation and make the movement of the EvacMat more stable. Colour coded cross straps enable quick, easy fastening − now featuring seatbelt style metal buckles.

Capable of assisting with horizontal and vertical evacuation, the EvacMat incorporates multiple ladder handles and positioning handles to help personnel to adopt good working posture, reducing the risk of injury to themselves. Anchor points allow for the use of ropes during difficult stair descents.

It’s strong slippery base enables the mat to move over indoor and outdoor surfaces. Other features include a foot pocket, internal pillow and integral carry bag.
Bariatric / Plus Sized Training Manikins

Bariatric / Plus Sized Training Manikins

Plus Sized Training Manikins enable trainees to learn and practice the correct moving and handling techniques needed to move a plus sized patient/ casualty. Ideal for use in a wide range of training scenarios such as, hoisting/transfer practice within healthcare environments, RTC extrications, rescues and emergency evacuation.

Constructed in heavy duty water-resistant Polyester, with flame retardant Nylon covered Polyurethane foam and durable nylon webbing. This makes these manikins tough enough to be buried under concrete, while being safe to handle and easy to clean.

To help achieve fluidity of movement and real weight distribution, 1/2 Kg packets of steel shot are spread across the foam layers, giving the feel of a conscious person. Furthermore, the nylon covered foam layers move over each other to create the feel of excess body fat.

Available in three models; 90kg − low weight without forfeiting bulk and size, 180kg (approx 28 stone) and 260kg (approx 41 stone).
These manikins come complete a carry sheet enabling them to be moved and transported by teams of 4-6 people, boots and bariatric pyjamas.
Bariatric Slide Sheets

Bariatric Slide Sheets

Bariatric slide sheets are designed to safely move and reposition bariatric individuals without the need to lift and help reduce the risk of skin damage to the individual.

Manufactured in 60gsm, Transtex silicone coated, nylon fabric the sheet measures 200cm x 100cm and is sewn into a continuous tube with a double sewn french seam. This low profile seam reduces potential tissue viability issues whilst adding strength and durability. A web hanging loop is provided to allow the sheet to be kept with the individual at all times.

Available as individual specific or washable.
Carry Sheet

Carry Sheet

Carry sheets enable emergency teams to transport a patient to a safe location quickly and with minimal effort, while helping to minimise the risk of injury to the operators.

These sheets are a vital aid in both the evacuation of non-ambulant patients from hazardous situations and the transfer of patients both on and off ambulance stretchers.

Capable of carrying a large person, the Carry/transfer Sheet allows up to ten people to easily move the individual with the weight evenly distributed between them.

The Carry Sheet can be rolled or folded to facilitate easy movement of the patient onto the sheet and can be used in confined spaces.

Easy to clean and folds away for compact storage. Supplied with a storage bag.
ErgoKneeler™

ErgoKneeler™

The ErgoKneeler™ is a kneeling system that can provide comfort, support and ease of movement for people such as nurses, midwives, podiatrists, orthotists, therapists, care workers and educational staff who undertake tasks at a low level. It can assist the user in managing the postural stressing associated with kneeling, helping to reduce the cumulative strain and promote musculoskeletal health.

Moulded in polyurethane foam with active antibacterial properties, the ergonomic design alleviates the compression forces and postural discomfort associated with low working positions and promotes good spinal posture. Designed by a Chartered Physiotherapist and Back Care Adviser, the ErgoKneeler™ is the result of collaborative working with Spectrum Healthcare (UK) Ltd and The Design Unit, De Montfort University, Leicester.

Bariatric Training Suit

Bariatric Training Suit

The Bariatric Training Suit enables staff working with bariatric individuals to feel for themselves the problems of mobility and routine activity experienced as a norm by the individuals they care for.

Perfect for use when training on the use of equipment such as hoists, as the difficulties faced in these situations are primarily those of bulk, with the hoist taking the weight.

The suit, which consists of body, arm and leg sections, only adds 6.5kg to the natural weight of the individual but simulates the bulk of a bariatric individual.
Emergency Evacuation Equipment Training

Emergency Evacuation Equipment Training

Emergency evacuation plans should never be reliant on the intervention of the Fire and Rescue Service to work. Therefore, it is of paramount importance that staff are fully trained in what to do in an emergency evacuation situation and how to use the evacuation equipment available to them.

Organisations who fail to provide emergency evacuation equipment and appropriate training also fail to comply with their legal obligations under the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulation 2006, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

At Hospital Aids we offer, certified onsite training on our range of evacuation chairs and mats/pads; this training will ensure that staff are familiar with and know how to properly use their chosen evacuation equipment.
