Vibration Surveys

Vibration Surveys

A vibration survey will provide all the necessary information on the vibration profile of any source (e.g. a railway line). All the data from the vibration survey will assist in defining any potential impact on a proposed development and assess any adverse effect on either the building's occupants or the building itself (structural, or cosmetic damage).
Long-Term Noise & Vibration Monitoring

Long-Term Noise & Vibration Monitoring

With our robust and cost-effective, on-line noise and vibration monitoring platform, we can cover a wide variety of scenarios where short-term, or-long term noise and vibration monitoring may be required (construction sites, demolition sites, outdoor festivals, outdoor industrial operations, wind farms, airports, motosport events)
In scenarios such as the above, a number of noise and vibration monitors will be deployed within or around a site, allowing the continuous measurement of noise and vibration levels. Alarms can be set should pre-defined trigger levels be exceeded, while notifications (SMS, email) can be sent instantaneously in order to allow the unimpeded progression of all site works.
Planning & Noise

Planning & Noise

The main objective during any planning application is a smooth and quick completion, so that the project programme can commence without delays.
We can assist in every stage of a planning application, by providing targeted and expert acoustic consultancy services, ranging from pre-application meetings with the Client, or the Local Planning Authority to representation as Expert Witness.
Fixed Installations

Fixed Installations

Usually, when the noise impact assessment involves fixed plant installations (e.g. air conditioning, kitchen extracts), the noise emissions data from the plant's manufacturer would be sufficient to undertake all necessary calculations and prepare a noise assessment report. The relative location of the proposed plant installation would be compared against the location of the closest receiver and any acoustic corrections due to distance or screening would be taken into account.
Indoor Operations

Indoor Operations

If the noise source under investigation is an operation from an indoor environment (e.g. noise from a place of worship, pub, live music venue), we would undertake a manual noise survey during its duration. In some cases where a noise-sensitive receiver is in the immediate adjacency to an indoor noise source, we would also investigate the sound reduction properties of the building''s external building fabric, by conducting a simultaneous noise survey inside and outside the building (noise break-out measurement).
Outdoor Operations

Outdoor Operations

In cases where the noise impact assessment involves an outdoor operation, such as an outdoor concert, sports activities (moto-cross racing, clay-pigeon shooting), or outdoor industrial operations (e.g. quarries, land-fill operations), the procedure would initially include either a manual noise survey, or a long-term monitoring of noise or vibration.
EchotectonicsTM

EchotectonicsTM

We are proud to present EchotectonicsTM, our new service for bespoke soundscape design.
The aesthetics of sound accompanied by sophisticated technology lies at the heart of EchotectonicsTM and drives our projects.
An initial consultation would be organised in order to better understand the project's exact requirements, and design a soundscape that will enhance the dynamics of any space ranging from commercia and entertainment, to spaces of worship or residential.
Noise at Work Assessments

Noise at Work Assessments

Noise at Work is a delicate issue as it involves a number of parameters to be carefully assessed, the most important of which is the health of employees.
Expert Witness

Expert Witness

The provision of Expert Witness evidence, forms an integral part of KP Acoustics range of services. Either appointed by one of the parties, or as a single joint expert, we can provide advice and represent our Clients in scenarios such as:
Planning hearings and appeals
Planning enquiries
Public inquiries
Legal cases related to Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL)
Noise Mapping

Noise Mapping

By using proprietary noise modelling software, KP Acoustics can assist our Clients with the generation of a noise contour map for any scenario.
This could range from a standard noise impact assessment exercise, to the generation of a distributed noise map for the planning application of a development scheme, to even a strategic noise map designed for the global assessment and prediction of noise exposure in a given area.
