Fire Risk Assessments

Fire Risk Assessments

If you are a business owner, landlord, or managing agent of a property, you have a legal obligation to ensure this property meets all of the necessary fire safety requirements.

This can be difficult to do, especially if you have very little history on the building you occupy. A fire risk assessment is an ideal tool, providing you with an action plan to improve upon the building's fire risk management.

A fire risk assessment is an organised inspection of your premises to ascertain if there are any fire hazards that could cause harm, identifying the measures currently in place, and estimating the level of risk for existing hazards. The aim of a fire risk assessment is to remove these hazards and to reduce them to an acceptable level.

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, a fire risk assessment is a legal requirement for most types of buildings used as a place of work, or residential buildings made up of more than a single dwelling. The fire safety risk assessment may reveal a need for other fire safety surveys, such as a fire compartmentation or external wall survey.
Fire Door Survey

Fire Door Survey

Fire doors are an integral part of any building’s passive fire protection system to help prevent the spread of fire, and are crucial to ensuring that all building occupants are able to evacuate safely and securely.

Offering professional and expert fire door inspections throughout the UK, all of our fire door surveyors have achieved Accredited City & Guilds Certification in fire door inspection competence, meaning they are fully trained and competent to adequately assess fire doors under the Fire Safety Regulatory Reform order 2005.
Fire Safety Training

Fire Safety Training

It is a legal requirement that all employees undergo basic training at induction, as the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that employees should receive adequate fire safety training.

Last year, around one hundred deaths occurred in the workplace as a result of fire, with around two hundred injuries. Many of these deaths could have been easily avoided if adequate fire awareness and safety training had been provided.
Fire Strategy

Fire Strategy

With years of specialised experience, NW Fire Solutions offer fire engineering consultancy for premises across the UK. A fire safety report is a complex document, specifically tailored to a building, that reviews all aspects of the building’s safety features. This includes areas such as construction, compartmentation strategy and means of escape.
Property Inspections

Property Inspections

As per the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the persons responsible (PR) for multi occupancy residential properties have an ongoing obligation to ensure the risk of fire is kept to a minimum. Also, any safety systems such as fire detection and emergency lighting systems must be tested regularly and kept in working order.

We have discovered that many RPs were failing to regularly visit their sites because of time pressures, logistics, or just poor management.
Fire Compartmentation Surveys

Fire Compartmentation Surveys

Understanding how a fire would spread in a building is crucial to assessing the risks, and therefore deciding which fire safety features should be implemented in a building. The importance of commissioning a thorough compartmentation survey in order to acquire such knowledge is not to be overlooked, as this can be one of the most effective methods of keeping a building and its occupants safe.

Backed with years of specialised experience, NW Fire Solutions offers fire stopping surveys and fire compartmentation surveys across the UK.

By following our professional proven process, we deliver detailed compartmentation surveys to ensure your building is fire safe. With years of fire safety and building construction knowledge and experience, our fire engineers are experts in identifying and applying fire compartmentation requirements in buildings, as per the approved British Standards.
Fire Stopping Surveys

Fire Stopping Surveys

A fire stopping survey can often be confused with a fire compartmentation survey, however, they are two vastly different surveys.

Here at NW Fire Solutions, we offer detailed fire stopping surveys to determine areas where fire resisting walls have been breached, so the correct remedial works can be performed to restrict the spread of fire and smoke through your building.

A fire stopping survey can be performed as a standalone survey, or as part of the more comprehensive compartmentation survey, in order to compile a more detailed analysis of a building’s existing compartmentation.
