Food Grade Polythene Bags
Here at Polycover we manufacture food grade polythene bags that are certified for direct contact with food or skin. Our BRCGS Packaging and Packaging Materials certification assures you that our food grade polythene products meet UK food standards and EU legislation for articles intended to come into direct contact with food. All of our food grade poly bags are manufactured with no risk to the product from contamination. We take pride in the appearance of our products and pack them in such a way to minimise the risk of contamination in transit. Our boxes which get poly lined are double wall 125k/125t EB flute material providing a stong container to transport loose packed items. All of the products that are packed wound onto rolls for tear off are all wrapped to protect during transit.

Valve Sacks
Polycover Ltd are supplier of polythene valve sacks, available in many formats but also printed or
plain. Valve sacks are used to pack powders and granules as they are easy to fill and close. Commonly used on spout fillers, the valave sack is fit around the dispenser chute and once filled to the desired level, tipped upside down or laid flat. The weight of the product inside helps keep the valve closed, eliminating the need to heat seal or stitch closed.
Most of the sacks we sell are bespoke, manufactured to each individual customers requirement. They are available with pin sizes air release holes and embossed strips to help prevent slipping when stacked. They can also be supplied in any colour, with a variety of colours for the patch on the end.

Heavy Duty Punched Handle Carrier Bags
This type of carrier bag is designed to carry heavier items such as wallpaper or shoe boxes. The top of the bag is folded inwards and sealed to the outer layer to create a re-enforced header for the punched handle. The bottom gusset is optional but this is useful for if you want the bag to stand unsupported when filled. Without the gusset the bottom of the bag may become rounded when filled with bulky items and will not stand by itself. This style of bag has a heavy duty side weld, to prevent the seals from bursting or ripping when filled.

Poly Bags are manufactured in many different formats and depending on your application we may be able to offer you some alternatives to what you currently use. It could be that depending on how you use them you need a certain style or type but here at Polycover we have the expertise to know from what you tell us, if an alternative product will perform better.

Toner Bags
We are able to produce black toner bags for enclosing printer toners in or for use when collecting used toners to be sent for recycling. These can be supplied with a multi-language warning notice if required or even your own company logos. A range of materials are available for these types of bags but the example shown here is a black HD bag with silver print. To find out more, please contact us.
Grip Seal Bags
The most common form of grip seal bag is imported and has 3 white write on panels across
the bag but, our grip seal bags are unique in the fact that each batch is made specially, to
your specification provided.
Our grip seal bags can be manufactured as plain or printed, or manufactured as bottom
loading for point of sale display purposes. If you choose to use a heat sealing device when
packing with produce, you could opt for a bottom loading grip seal bag. Once filled, this
allows the end user to cut open the top of the bag above the grip seal, remove some of the
contents and then seal closed again.

Wicketted Bags
Wicketted bags are designed to be used in a fast packing environment or to easily dispense from a pack of bags hung from a wall or shelf. The wire wickets which pass through the pile of bags hold the pack together and rubber grommets stop the bags from sliding off the wickets. The bags are manufactured with a top flap, where the wicket holes are punched through. When you pull the bags off the wicket the flap will remain intact on the bag but the wicket holes tear easily to aid removal, unless you opt for a tear line perf in between the bag and the lip which will create a clean finish on the top of the bags. These bags are commonly used in bakeries, veg shops or high speed food preparation and packing environments.
Compostable Bags
We have a variety of materials that can be used for compostable bags depending on your particular application. These materials can be coloured, printed, formed into mailer bags with peel and seal strips or even used for presentation folders as we have some exceptionally high clarity bioderadable materials.
All of the materials we use are non-toxic and may be used in direct contact with all types of foodstuff.

VCI Poly Sheeting
We are able to supply a wide range of polythene widths with VCI. (Please also see our VCI Bags and VCI Pallet Covers pages)
VCI (Volatile Corrosive Inhibitor) helps protect metal components from rusting. Moisture in the environment settles on the surface of metal components and over time this moisture helps conduct an electrochemical process which produces oxidisation or rust. When enclosing a metal object inside VCI polythene, the active vapours fights against the electrochemical process and prevents the rust.
It is vital that users are educated properly in the use of VCI polythene. If the metal products are not packed in the correct way and in the wrong conditions, then you might as well use normal polythene because the VCI will not be able to work properly. The vapours that this material releases are not toxic.

We supply a wide range of VCI materials converted into VCI Pallet Covers and alike. Pallet covers double up as pallet liners also. VCI Pallet Covers can be made up to 5 metre high and limitless on width so if you want to wrap a new bullet train or coach then we can do it!

We can print bags with your own design, giving them a unique look.
It may be beneficial for you to use a VCI bag instead of VCI polythene, it takes less time to pack an object into a bag so this could increase the efficiency of your packing process and make your package more air tight. If not packed correctly the bag will become useless and the Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor will not perform like it is designed to.

Builders Bags
FIBCS, Bulk Bags, Tote Bags, Big Bags, Builders Bags are all names commonly used for Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers. These bags have been around since the late 1950s and have become more popular over time. The bag is constructed of 4 sides and a base, made from a flexible fabric (general Woven Polypropylene).
It is defined as a bag that cannot be handled manually when filling, is intended for shipping any dry products in powder, flake or granular form, does not require further packaging and is designed to be lifted from the top by means of lifting loops.

Baffle & Quad Bags
Baffle or Quad bags are designed to hold the bulk bags ‘square’, reducing the bulging by
up to 25%. The inner baffles cross over the corners of the bag, holding in the sides to
reduce bulge. Each baffle section is hole punched to allow product flow into the corners
which ensures stability for the bulk bag.

Conical Base Bags
The conical bag is a four panel design that is shaped at the base at varying angles depending on the product going into the bag.
Some products are not free flowing and ‘clump’ when transported in bulk bags. The conical bag is designed to assist with the discharge process, providing a tunnel like base.
There are some negatives with using conical bags, mainly they are difficult to keep square on a pallet. To counter this, four flaps can be added to the sides, which will help form a base, allowing the bag to sit better on a pallet without restricting the conical bottom.
This style of bag is also helpful if the product ‘sticks in the corners’ of the bag. The ‘shoulders’ are removed to allow free flow.

Polypropylene Bags & Sheets
Polycover supply polypropylene materials. A typical example is bread bags, with the very small micro perfs (p360) which is essential for allowing the bread to breathe when fresh out of the oven. Polyprop bags and sheets are very useful for presentation purposes as the material has extremely high clarity, better than most polythene blends. Polyprop is used for protecting gift cards, wrapping fruit and veg and, is now available with anti-fog additives to help keep freshly cooked food looking fresh for longer.

Breathable Covers
Breathable elasticated pallet covers can be manufactured from a number of different weight fabrics, available in White, Black, Red, Blue or Green. The breathable pallet cover can be supplied with an optional elasticated edge, made from water proof or machine washable materials. We can even manufacture these covers so that they can be picked up under metal detectors. Sewn in ID labels are optional so please ask for these if of interest.

Elasticated Polythene Covers
Elasticated polythene covers can be used like drum covers to protect the tops of bins, open boxes, dolavs and other various shaped containers. The elasticated polythene cover helps prevent the risk of contamination when used in food production environments but can also be used to prevent water damage on steel drums which are stored outside. The fitting and removal of these covers is very easy, the elasticated edge helps the cover to cling to the top of the container which makes then re-usable.
Available in a variety of thicknesses, colours or sizes, these elasticated polythene covers can be manufactured to suit most requirements. Can be manufactured as circular, rectangular and square sheets or shaped like a box.

PVC Covers
PVC Covers are used to temporary protect the tops of bins, skips and any other open container. Unlike our elasticated polythene covers which are designed to be used only a couple of times, our polyvinyl chloride or PVC covers will last decades if handled properly. These poly covers are exceptionally tough, UV resistant, tear resistant, weather proof and made from PU and PVC coated materials like found on truck curtains. Available with re-enforced eyelets and shock cord, these covers can be easily fitted and removed. Supplied with enough shock cord for you to tie off yourself, you can vary the amount of tension on the cord to suit your own application.
Flame Retardant Polythene
Flame retardant polythene can be supplied with or without embossing. Embossed flame retardant polythene can be used as an anti slip flame proof layer, available as a sealable material to produce bags sheets and covers, or simply as a cheaper non sealable material for use with wrapping and covering objects. Our flame retardant polythene is manufactured using materials from a leading global supplier of masterbatches. It is common for users to request 100-125 micron thick (400-500 gauge) but we can supply much thinner.
