PRE2000CU3 - Thermostatic Room Control

The Prefect Irus CU3 Control head is fitted to each room. The CU3 provides LCD display and controls for the user.

The PRE2000CU3 thermostatic control unit is fitted on the wall of each room for the occupant to use. The control unit is a standard single gang plate size and is powered by a 12VDC supply from the PRE2000PU3 making the unit SELV, quickening installation and allowing for easier cable routing.

The Control unit has an LCD display for the occupant to view, the screen is fully programmable to your needs, for example the screen can display current set point, current temperature or simply a scale from minimum to maximum. The screen is also dimmable to 0% brightness to suit occupant requirements. Up and down buttons make the control unit simple to use, increasing or decreasing the temperature set point.

PRE2000CU3CO2BRU - Thermostatic Room Control with Integrated CO2 Monitoring Module

The PRE2000CU3CO2BRU operates in exactly the same way as the PRE200CU3 but has the added functionality of monitoring air quality. The integrated module monitors CO2 within the units vicinity. Using NDIR (Nondispersive infrared) technology with a measurement range of between 400 and 2900ppm (parts per million) and an accuracy of ±(50ppm + 3% of measured value. The concentration of CO2 is determined by passing infrared light through a sample of the air and comparing absorption of light at two different wavelengths. The sensor combines this information with barometric pressure and temperature measurements to calculate CO2 concentration. Data collected by the Control Unit is displayed on the Irus Portal as an instantaneous figure and also on the time line to illustrate levels throughout the period.

PRE2000MIFU2 - Master Interface Unit

The Prefect Irus PRE2000MIFU2 is the central main interface unit it sends and receives data to nodes on site.

The MIFU2 connects to PRE2000SIFU2 units via category 5 cabling. The SIFU2 units take the signal from the MIFU2 and re-transmits the data onto the mains network where it is received by the room nodes. Data is then sent back through the mains network back to the SIFU2 and is then transmitted through the cat 5 cabling back to the MIFU2 where the data is securely stored and uploaded to the web portal.

Internet security is at the core design of the MIFU2. No data is directly sent to the MIFU2 from the internet, any request is securely stored in the web portal and the MIFU2 will retrieve this data making the MIFU2 isolated from the outside world. Constant security updates keep the MIFU2 unit safe against new types of threat.

PRE2000SIFU3 - Secondary Interface Unit

The PrefectIrus PRE2000SIFU3 is the intermediary or Secondary Interface Unit. The SIFU3 sends and receives data to nodes on site.

The SIFU3 bridges the gap between the central control MIFU2 and the individual room nodes. The SIFU3 is connected to the MIFU2 via category 5 cabling along which data is sent. The SIFU3 takes this data and injects the information in packets into the mains network using mains borne signalling technology. Data is also received from the room node through mains borne signalling, this data is then sent to the MIFU2. Multiple SIFU3 units are used in series to cover all areas of the building where room nodes are required.

The SIFU3 is connected to the MIFU2 via CAT5 cabling, however when CAT5 cabling is not a viable option the SIFU3 can be connected using a pre-existing data network. Utilising the data network will allow multiple SIFU3 units to be connected to the MIFU2 without the addition of new cabling.

The Prefect Irus PRE2000PU3 power unit provides the PRE2000CU3 with SELV voltage and 16A switching capacity.

The PRE2000PU3 power unit supplies the PRE2000CU3 head unit with the necessary power while adding the capability to switch up to 16A resistive.
The power unit also sends and receives the CU3 data via Mains Borne Signalling (MBS).

The PU3 is a standard 2 gang fitment requiring a 35mm or greater surface or sunken box. The fascia incorporates two flex cable clamps and associated knock-outs for flex connections to heaters, TRV valves or water tank elements.

The Prefect Irus PRE2000SR3 slave relay is a secondary relay unit for use with the PRE2000PU3 and PRE2000CU3.

When connected to a PRE2000PU3 and PRE2000CU3 the slave relay is utilised as a second relay output, this affords the PRE2000CU3 control head with the use of two 16A relays for switching twin element hot water tanks or multiple heaters.

The PRE2000SR3 utilises the same PC/ABS enclosure as the PRE2000PU3. The enclosure is a standard 2 gang fitment requiring 30mm or deeper surface or sunken pattress box. The enclosure has 2 flex outlets available using cut-outs in the fascia if external cabling is required, each mains knock out is accompanied by a cable clamp ensuring secure cable retention. There is also a LV cable cut-out if required. The PC/ABS is UV stable impact resistant. The slave relay unit switches mains load up to 16A resistive.

The Prefect Irus PRE2000PUR power unit provides SELV voltage and 1A silent switching capacity to the PRE2000CU3.

The PRE2000PUR power unit supplies the PRE2000CU3 head unit with the necessary power while adding the capability to switch up to 1A loads silently. The PUR utilises a solid state triac in place of a relay. the triac has no mechanical parts, therefore it is very reliable while being completely silent in operation, this is an important feature when controlling proportionally as the unit will switch multiple times per minute to maintain temperature levels.

The PUR sends and receives the CU3 data via mains borne signalling (MBS).

The Prefect Irus PRE2000W2-4 is a complete kit of components for connecting a twin element hot water tank system to the Prefect Irus control system.

The PRE2000CU3 is the control head unit and the control element of the kit. The head unit collects and stores data from the sensors and controls the PRE2000PU3 and PRE2000SR3 switching power to the elements.

The PRE2000PU3 power unit is the power supply for the low voltage head unit and the PRE2000SR3. The power unit houses a 16A relay for switching the 1st element when commanded by the head unit. The power unit uses mains borne signalling to transmit and receive data and commands between the head unit and Prefect Irus central control. Using the RJ45 connection, the PU3 connects the slave relay to the control head unit affording the use of a second relay. The top and bottom temperature sensors are connected to the control unit via the probe interface unit (PIU). Four core cable is used to connect the PIU to the CU3.

The Prefect Irus Leak Detection Control unit detects leaks and works alongside a shut-off water valve to stop leaks.

The PRE2000LDCU works with Prefect Irus and a leak detection pad to detect leaks and shut off the water supply stopping the leak before major damage can occur. The LDCU is programmed to close the water valve when a leak is detected either by its own leak detection pad or that of another node.

The LDCU has a simple 4 wire connection to the PRE2000ASOV automatic shut off valve. The LDCU can read the valve position allowing the system to know if the valve is open or closed, this also allows the system to know if the valve has been manually overridden.

The Prefect Irus PRE2000AWPS has two functions: A water waste detector for lavatories to identify faulty cisterns; A temperature sensor for use on water pipes.

One of the most common causes of water waste in households, is toilet and tap leaks. Large quantities of water can flow down the toilet pan without being noticed and without being visible.

The PRE2000AWPS measures the difference between the water inlet pipe temperature and the ambient room temperature. This difference triggers the alarm. The sensor can detect as little as 5 litres per hour wastage.

Established in 1997, Prefect Controls Ltd aimed to design and produce intuitive yet straightforward energy controls that met the commercial needs of building operators while offering fixed control access for occupants.

In 1997, Prefect focused on commercial sectors such as room providers, student accommodation, and hotels, where excessive heating energy use by guests−who did not directly bear the cost−was a significant issue.

We identified a clear market need for a range of controls that would allow guests to manage their own settings, while enabling business owners to maintain overall control of temperature and time settings behind the scenes. By addressing the needs of both guests and business owners, Prefect Design Engineers have developed a comprehensive range of space heating controls, from standalone (local) units to fully centralised systems. Prefect Irus is an award-winning building energy management system designed for multiple occupancy properties like university accommodations and hotels. It features three modes: ‘Setback’ for normal occupancy, ‘Boost’ for higher temperatures on demand, and ‘Frost’ for extended vacancies. Compatible with electric panel heaters, wet radiator systems, and most boilers, ecoStat's robust construction make it well-suited for demanding environments like student accommodations. It also detects unoccupied rooms and open windows to adjust heating accordingly. ecoStat is 100% tamper-proof due to the dedicated infrared programming handset used to adjust individual room controls. One handset is required for each site and is only accessible to authorised personnel.

HobSensus - Kitchen Safety
HobSensus is an award-winning kitchen safety device tailored for student accommodations, communal kitchens, and assisted-living settings. It prevents overheating by cutting power to the hob before reaching fire flashpoint temperatures and automatically switches off after 30 minutes of inactivity. The device features a 64-zone temperature sensor and is compatible with most 600mm or 900mm electric hobs, offering a 40Amp switching capacity. It operates on hard-wired (LV) or battery power and integrates with the Prefect Irus Central Control system. Compliant with EN50615:2015, HobSensus is quick to install and easy to use.
