Indicators & Pilot Lights

Indicators & Pilot Lights

An LED indicator is an electronic component that is primarily used to indicate whether a machine or system is working, or as a warning signal. These indicators can help the user to identify any fault in the circuit or safety issues in the equipment, as they can be wired to only light up when there is a problem, or to emit a different colour, e.g. green when working and red when there is a fault.

Pilot lights, also known as power light indicators, are more specifically used to indicate the start or stop of a process, usually through a dual-colour functionality, or by momentarily flashing/blinking.

RJS Electronics offers a wide range of both plastic and metal LED indicators and pilot lights, in various shapes and sizes from 6mm to 30mm. Additionally, we provide a wide selection of LED illumination options to perfectly suit your design requirements.

We have IP rated options to suit more hard wearing applications, and ultrabright indicators for high visibility even in sunlight.

Emergency Stop Switch

Emergency Stop Switch

Emergency stop switches, also known as ‘E-Stops‘, are large push button switches used in cases of emergency. When pressed, it will immediately break the electrical circuit and completely turn off the device. It is commonly used to shut off machinery in an emergency, when it isn’t able to be shut off the using the usual method.
Exit Buttons & Devices

Exit Buttons & Devices

Exit buttons are used to open doors that must usually remain locked for safety/security reasons. Door exit switches usually have a momentary function which essentially unlocks the door for a brief period after the button is pressed, or approached if it is touchless.

Some examples of where you may find door exit buttons include healthcare facilities, offices, hotels, food service areas and shops.
Rocker, Toggle & Foot Switches

Rocker, Toggle & Foot Switches

Rocker Switches, Toggle Switches and Footswitches are alternatives to the standard Push Button Switch. They are most commonly used to operate an electrical device by turning it on and off, or to control a certain function.

We offer both Panel Mount and PCB Rocker and Toggle switches.
Push Button Switches

Push Button Switches

A push button switch is a device, mechanical in nature, operated by a person pressing a button, which then activates an internal switch. Available with various design options that cater to different shapes, sizes and configurations specific to the use.
LED Tactile Switches

LED Tactile Switches

Tact switches, also known as tactile switches, are compact electronic switches specifically designed to mount on PCB boards. These on/off switches play a crucial role in connecting components and forming electronic circuits. A tactile switch offers a satisfying “clicky” feedback to let the user it has been engaged. Tact switches offer a practical alternative to push button switches, because of their smaller size and easier operation. Explore our vast selection of both illuminated and non-illuminated tact switches and elevate your electronic projects to new heights.
Non-Illuminated Tact Switches

Non-Illuminated Tact Switches

Tact or tactile switches are small and compact switches, designed to mount PCB boards. They’re on/off electronic switches made to connect components to form electronic circuits. The circuit is connected when pressure is applied or the button is pressed, once the pressure is released, the circuit is cut. Choosing a tactile switch can be a great alternative to a push button switch as they are often small, require less force to operate, and have more of a ‘clicky’ feel. We supply a wide range on non-illuminated and illuminated tact switches.
Pots, Encoders & Knobs

Pots, Encoders & Knobs

A Potentiometer, or Pot, is a type of resistor that is designed to adjust the amount of voltage within a circuit. We supply rotary pots that allow for simple control with just the turn of a knob, as well as slide pots − also known as motorised faders − that can change resistance by sliding a wiper along a track. One example of an application for a potentiometer is as a volume control on a radio or stereo system.

Encoders are switches that require motion to initiate change and control a certain function within a circuit. We supply a variety of rotary encoders that can be used to monitor or control operations in a number of systems and devices. They are commonly found in applications such as robotics, industrial controls and in vehicles.

Our range of Pots and Encoders are available as ‘through-hole’ or ‘SMT mounting style’. Additionally, choose from horizontal or vertical types.
Relays

Relays

In a nutshell, the purpose of a relay is to control an electrical circuit. Relays are components utilised for controlling power and switching smaller current values within control circuits. They are commonly used in control panels, manufacturing, and building automation.
Toggle & Rocker Switches

Toggle & Rocker Switches

A toggle switch is a type of switch that features a lever for turning a circuit on or off. These switches come in different orientations, including horizontal, vertical, and right-angle positions, catering to various electronic devices. Toggle switches are also available in different sizes to accommodate specific requirements.
DIP, Slide & Rotary Switches

DIP, Slide & Rotary Switches

DIP Switches consist of a series of small manual electronic switches in a ‘dual in-line package’ or DIP. So, the term Dip Switch may refer to each individual switch, or to the entire unit. Their role is to control the flow of electricity around a PCB, to change the operating mode of the device. There are many different types of DIP switches, including: Piano type, IC type, Right Angle type, Slide type and SMD type.

Typically, DIP switches are tiny toggle (on/off) switches arranged in a row and mounted sequentially on a block. A standard DIP switch can include 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 10 or 16+ switches.

The main benefit of these switches is that they are simple to use and a cheaper alternative to software control panels and jumper blocks. Some applications for them include PC hardware, door mechanisms, remote controls and large-scale lighting controls.
Limit & Proximity Switches

Limit & Proximity Switches

A Limit Switch is an electromechanical component that is used to detect the presence of an object. As the object contacts the actuator, the switch will cause an electrical connection to make or break. The limit switch then regulates the electrical circuit which controls the machine and the moving parts.
Touchless Infrared Switches

Touchless Infrared Switches

Touchless Switches are a type of door exit/entry button that use an infrared proximity sensor to activate without the need for physical contact. These switches are therefore most commonly found in places with a high volume of traffic and/or where it is important to keep any potential cross-contamination to a minimum (e.g. in hospitals, healthcare facilities and food preparation areas).

Our no touch buttons are easy to install with no programming required, and come with an IP40 rating as standard, or you can select the outdoor version which is IP68 rated against dust and water.

These touchless switches feature bi-colour LED illumination: a blue light when on standby and green light when activated. ‘NO TOUCH’ text can also be added to the face of the button.
